"Harmond helped me over video link to test the components in my broken refrigerator. The testing confirmed that it was the compressor that had failed. I purchased a new refrigerator because I decided it was not worth the cost to replace the compressor."

"I heard them to do a sump pump in pit for me and they did an excellent job. It was just tested in the last rain storm and passed. I am very happy my basement stayed dry throughout the torrential rains."

"Our roof was a probably about three years overdue for replacement. By the time we finally got around to getting an estimate, it was a leaky, mold-infested mess. Fortunately, American Remodeling was sending people door-to-door in our area offering free estimates. The sales-person who came to our house for the estimate was very thorough. He showed us where all of the problems were and gave us a price. Honestly, we were feeling a bit pressured by some of his sales talk and we actually considered backing out at one point. However, we did some research on the company and saw what an excellent reputation it had. When the sales-person called us back a few days later, he was willing to negotiated and we were able to agree on a price that we felt comfortable with. A couple of days after that, the owner of the company came by our house and we signed the paper work. He even brought some Pink Panther stuffed animals for our kids, which they loved. We set up a tentative date for them to get started on the roof the following Wednesday. This was mid-February, mind you, and a major storm was set to arrive that Thursday. We were worried that the job would be put off. However, a crew of about fifteen workers showed up that Wednesday morning. They were amazingly efficient and hard working, and they were able to finish our whole roof by the early afternoon. This involved pulling up the old shingles, putting the new roof on, and cleaning everything up. A big snow and wind storm hit the next day, so the roof was given an immediate test; everything held up. My next-door neighbor, who knows a thing about roofing, commented to me that he had never seen a better roofing crew in his life. He said that it would have taken any one else several days to do the job. The roof itself looks fantastic. The sales person recommended several colors that he thought would work with our house and the one we picked looks great with our brick exterior. Every time I walk or drive past my front yard now, I always have to admire how much better our house looks. My only complaint is that I did have to call the company back to get them to do the mold remediation, but they sent a guy out within a couple of days. I would recommend this company to anyone in the Kutztown area or any other area that they serve."

Percolation Tests questions, answered by experts

Asbestos is a carcinogen, meaning it increases the risk of cancer. Inhaling asbestos fibers is linked to several respiratory issues, including asbestosis, or scarring on the lungs, lung cancer, and mesothelioma, another type of cancer. There's also a link between asbestos exposure and an increased risk of colon cancer and other cancers of the digestive system.

Usually, the people most at risk for disease related to asbestos exposure are those who spend a lot of time working around the material without protection. Electricians who work with asbestos wire have a higher risk of developing mesothelioma or lung cancer due to their exposure.

Asbestos has many beneficial properties, including fire resistance, strength, and chemical resistance. It is also an excellent insulator, which is why it was used in pipe insulation and other building materials for decades. For all its benefits, asbestos is dangerous for human health, which is why it was eventually banned from use in certain products.

No, an N95 mask will not protect against asbestos and many other hazardous materials, such as carbon monoxide, gas, chemical vapors, and other gases. You will need a respirator specifically designed to protect against asbestos. However, if you suspect asbestos is present in your home, hire an asbestos abatement professional immediately and avoid the area until they arrive for the inspection.

Older textures may contain asbestos, requiring careful handling and professional inspection before work begins to ensure safety compliance.

Bathroom tiles can contain asbestos, just the same as patio tiles or kitchen tiles. Remember that asbestos was used primarily for its insulative and fire-resistant properties, both of which are desired in a house. Before we knew asbestos caused cancers and other diseases, it made a lot of sense to include it in many different building materials, including bathroom tiles.
