Gary and Sons Inc opened for business in 1978 as Gary's Dehydrator and Stoves. Soon their reputation as wood and coal stove specialists led them into the wood and coal central heating business. As their experience continued to increase, Gary and Sons Inc. quickly became a leading heating and cooling installation specialist, encompassing all fuel types. Today the heating and cooling business is still the keystone of Gary and Sons Inc. but Gary and Sons continued dedication to their customers needs has given birth to a wide range of new products and services such as, annual maintenance agreements and 24 hour emergency service, zero clearance gas and wood fireplaces, Keystoker automatic fed Anthracite coal stoves, furnaces and boilers, as well as vented and vent free gas logs. Additionally, Gary's offers a full range of gas unit heaters, an expanded service and maintenance department and Gary and Sons high-powered duct cleaning service.

"The Pro was outstanding No materials were necessary. The job took approximately 15 minutes. I am a disabled 73 year old Vet and my wife is 83. Everyone knows that people in our category are on fixed incomes. I was charged 395 for 15 minutes to replace 2 short facia sections. The price is predatory in my estimation. So seniors beware. I agreed to the price because I couldn't find anyone else and the job needed to be done for safety reasons. This is not an excuse to take advantage of the elderly."

Boiler Repair questions, answered by experts

Generally speaking, yes, turning one radiator off does save some money, especially if the system is a little older—so long as you’re not cranking up the dial on the ones you leave on. But some HVAC specialists argue that keeping your entire system on ensures that your boiler stays efficient. After all, it’s rated to fit your home and heats the amount of water your heating system needs. This could be the case if you have a new system. However, turning radiators off in unused rooms lowers the amount of hot water you need.

Fixing a radiator is worth it because it costs less than fully replacing it. Sometimes, a little troubleshooting can go a long way. The issue could be as simple as a blown fuse, a malfunctioning thermostat, or a loose valve. Plus, your daily life wouldn’t be too comfortable without a functioning radiator.

The cost of annual maintenance depends on the type of HVAC system you have. AC service typically costs an average of $200 but ranges from $100 to $550. If your system needs repairs, the price will vary significantly depending on what needs fixing. However, addressing the issues as they arise can prevent further damage to your unit and keep it operating efficiently for much longer.

At minimum, you should plan to have your HVAC system serviced once per year, usually leading into either the summer or winter before it sees heavy usage. If you live in a particularly cold, hot, or humid climate, consider servicing your HVAC system twice per year—once in the spring and once in the fall—to keep it running efficiently and prevent it from going down in the high-demand seasons. You can also schedule one-off services if you notice issues like uneven heating or cooling, poor performance, or strange noises from your equipment.

A home radiator works by using radiation and convection to transfer heat throughout your home. Electric radiators use metal to conduct heat and warm the air, which then rises to warm the room. Steam and hot water radiators work with a boiler and piping system to pump thermal energy throughout the home. Hot water radiators use a boiler to heat the water before circulating it to the radiator, while steam heating radiator systems convert the heated water to steam before circulating it out. When the water or steam cools, it travels back to the boiler to be heated again.
