Customers say: True professional

"Luiz and his team are amazing, and I highly recommend them!! They did a remarkable job and were so easy to work with. You can imagine that tiling an entire house (in phases) can be a very time consuming and a frustrating task, but Luiz and his guys made it as easy as it could possibly be...even helping move furniture (on 3 separate occasions) from one side of the house to the other and then back again once everything was completed. They didnâ t have to do this, but they wanted to so they could see the final product. I cannot imagine anyone not being happy with his work as he's a great person, runs a very professional business and charges a fair price for fantastic craftsmanship!"

"Great work. Moved most of the heavy items in the basement, epoxy finish looks amazing. Third floor room went from blue, orange, purple and lime green child's room to a neutral any age bedroom. They tinted the primer for best coverage of old color, two coats of paint. Instead of just touching up the baseboards as we agreed, they repainted them completely so the finish would look better. This is the second job they've done for us. Wonderful company!

"Precision Construction did a great job finishing our basement. The owner (Andy) and his assistant (Mike) did all the work themselves (plumbing, electrical, wall and ceiling framing, drywall, painting, ceramic tile, wood flooring, cabinets). They didnâ t use any subcontractors. They clearly know what theyâ re doing. They started when they said they would and completed the work when they said they would. The quality of their installed work was very good. I highly recommend them for any residential construction/remodeling project."

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Yes, most general contractors require an initial down payment. A reasonable deposit is typically between 10% and 25% of the total project cost, although this can vary by project size and location. This upfront payment helps the contractor cover initial costs like materials, permits, licensing, and hiring subcontractors. The remaining balance is usually billed according to a schedule outlined in your contract, often tied to project milestones or completion dates. Be cautious of contractors who ask for a large deposit of 50% or more, as this could be a red flag for a scam.

Installing a bathroom in a basement isn’t a project for most homeowners. Many parts—plumbing, electricity, and carpentry—go into this project, each requiring expert-level knowledge and tools. One miscalculation can lead to very expensive repairs. Plus, some homeowner’s insurance might not pay for damages caused by a homeowner DIYing this project. You can protect yourself by allowing the pros to complete this job for you.

If you’re not sure which method of raising the ceiling is best for you, here are a couple of considerations to help you make that decision. A professional ceiling company will be able to help you determine the best option for your home.

  • How long you are planning to live there: although raising the basement ceiling will increase the value of your home, if you’re planning to sell the house, then go for raising the house.

  • The condition of the foundation: to lower the floors, your foundation has to be intact whereas raising the house will allow you to restore the damaged foundation.

Renovations that add functionality or more comfortable floor space generally add the most value when remodeling your home. Attic or basement finishing can add floor space without altering the home's structure, saving you renovation money while adding valuable space. Smaller improvements, such as installing smart-home components or replacing entry doors and windows, also experience high ROIs.

Building a bar in the basement will likely add value to your home, although it’s unlikely that you’ll see a significant return on investment (ROI) unless you plan on using the space for you and your guests. If you think you’ll use the area frequently, though, it’s probably worth the investment, and you should see a bump in value if or when you sell your property.
