"Amazing. They replaced our roof in about a day and a half, including re-roofing our shed. They were efficient, arrived early (7am!) and cleaned up after they were done. Roof looks great and we've gotten a lot of compliments on it from the neighbors. Very pleased!"

"William Anderson has done two repairs to my roof which corrected mistakes done by another roofing company seven years ago. He is knowledgeable, and can identify problems/mistakes quickly. He explains what he is doing, and why he is doing it. When doing repairs he photographs what the problem was, and takes pictures during the repair process. I wouldnâ t hesitate to recommend him for any roofing repair problem."

"Keystone Roof solutions was a lifesaver, while everybody else came out with estimates that were completely high unrealistic. Keystone offered a very affordable option for our roof replacement needs. They were also very helpful , doing extra work for a very reasonable price. They replaced our roof in a matter of 3 days and kept us posted with every single detail during the process. Don't go Anywhere else."

"Very pleased with my decision to hire Steve. Not only is he a nice guy, he was very professional and passionate about replacing my standing seam metal roof, and he's one of the few people I've met in life that seems to love his work/job. His communication skills were excellent, and I always knew how the roof was progressing. I'm very happy with the work he did, and I'd certainly hire him again. The most impressive thing to me, and why I highly recommend him to others, is when he found some foundational issues, instead of ignoring them, he stopped his work to have them addressed. He cared about my building and the project. That is rare, these days, as most rush to get through the work and onto the next job. Highly recommend that you talk to Steve for your next metal roof project."

"Stewart Home Improvement delivered excellent same day service for a small (two pieces of siding near the roof line) but urgent (rain and winds tomorrow) job. Jim communicated promptly, was here on time and reinstalled the dislodged siding. I feel good in recommending his services."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Whether a metal or shingle roof is better for you depends on your preferences. Standing seam metal roofs require little to no maintenance, but if you install a screw-down metal roof where the fasteners are exposed, the gaskets on the fasteners will dry rot and need to be replaced. Generally, screw-down metal roofs need to be re-screwed every 15 to 20 years.

Metal roofs are energy-efficient and have extended warranties, while asphalt shingles are less durable than most. They tend to lose color and get damaged over time, and absorb heat from the sun.

Chimney caps have a solid top but perforated sides so smoke can exit safely. If rain or snow falls downward, chimney caps can protect the chimney’s interior. Just note that if rain or snow blows in sideways, there’s a higher likelihood it will enter the chimney—but it's not often a cause for concern as long as you have a cap.

The best type of roof vent depends on the size, type, and construction of your roof as well as the environmental conditions in and around your home. In many cases, an active ventilation system that draws in fresh air and exhausts air out through the attic is the most effective. Active ventilation systems include roof ridge vents with baffles, turbine vents, and soffit vents that are used together with another type of vent.

Costs depend on material, labor, and additional features like underlayment or insulation.

A chimney cap costs about $300 on average to install, with prices ranging from $75 to $1,000. The final cost depends on several factors, including the professional you hire, the accessibility of your chimney, the cap's material and size, whether any repairs are needed, and if it requires custom fabrication. Chimney caps are usually made from galvanized steel, stainless steel, or copper. Copper caps are the most expensive, followed by stainless steel and then galvanized steel. Excluding labor, average material costs are around $100 for galvanized steel, $250 for stainless steel, and $600 for copper. You may also face additional costs, such as hiring a chimney sweep to clean the chimney before the cap is installed.
