"They did great job on install. But within a month it started crumbling, getting holes. Salt never out on driveway and all instructions followed. Every month that has gone by, the driveway has crumbled. Years later there are numerous holes, cracks, gravel exposed and other issues. Was told couldn’t do anything but seal again. Was told could have been bad concrete mix, but not worth it trying to fix. I think it was great experience, until the driveway started crumbling a month later. My driveway looks terrible. Compared to older and newer ones in neighborhood. It is still deterring now. Very disappointing outcome. Should have gone with lower priced vendor. Versa lock wall put in also bowing."

Yes, you can pour concrete if it rained the day before, but you’ll need to drain the construction site to ensure there isn’t standing water where your slab will sit. You might need to manually remove any puddles and set up drainage on your site to dry it before pouring. Moist soil won’t be an issue, but standing water will throw off your concrete mix ratios. Additionally, ensure there isn’t more rain expected in the near future before you pour.

Fiber concrete can be a good option for a residential driveway that will hold up standard passenger cars. The fibers provide increased flexion over a rebar-reinforced concrete driveway, so you’re less likely to see surface cracks. For driveways that need to hold commercial vehicles or multiple vehicles, rebar reinforcement is a better option. Ask a concrete driveway company near you which is the best option for your situation.

In most cases, you’ll want your patio to be 4 inches thick, although you should add reinforcement and increase the thickness up to around 8 inches if you want it to support heavier loads and resist cracking more readily. Although thicker slabs will cost more, you’ll start seeing diminishing returns at around 6 inches.
