"Had a small portion of the roof that needed repair prior to a potential incoming rain storm. Henry assisted me within a day and had it repaired by the afternoon. He also let me know how the problem occurred with detailed pictures and the appropriate measures to avoid a future issue."

"Rob from Long Home Products was our roofing consultant. He arrived promptly, was professional and courteous. He spent several hours with us as he was very knowledgeable about their product, the company and the roofing process. He checked the entire roof, not just the problem area and found more damage than we thought. His expertise helped us lock in a price agreeable to both. Now we are awaiting our new roof to be put on and expect much satisfaction. Thank you Rob. Trudy and Jerry Charles"

Small jobs welcome

"Fabiano and his son did an excellent job. The house is over 100 years old and one is always braced for collateral damage when doing work like removing an old staircase and installing a new one. The removal went smoothly with no problems and the new staircase is beautiful. The work is quality and everything was clean when done. We are extremely happy with the new stairs. Will definitely have them back again for more projects."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

The number of snow guards you’ll need on your roof depends on factors like the type of roof you have, its slope, the orientation of your home, and the snow load in your area. A local roofing professional or the snow guard manufacturer can help you determine the ideal amount.

Using an ice and water shield underlayment under a metal roof is a good way to protect the roof and your home from damage in colder climates that see a lot of winter weather. Traditional underlayment isn’t effective underneath a metal roof, though, so be sure to install one specifically made for metal roofs to get the best protection.

Whether a metal or shingle roof is better for you depends on your preferences. Standing seam metal roofs require little to no maintenance, but if you install a screw-down metal roof where the fasteners are exposed, the gaskets on the fasteners will dry rot and need to be replaced. Generally, screw-down metal roofs need to be re-screwed every 15 to 20 years.

Metal roofs are energy-efficient and have extended warranties, while asphalt shingles are less durable than most. They tend to lose color and get damaged over time, and absorb heat from the sun.

DIY is possible for minor repairs. Professional services ensure proper sealing and alignment for larger issues.

Most shed roofs can last between 15 and 30 years, although some roofing materials like slate and clay tile can last for 50 to 100 years.  Choosing durable, waterproof roofing materials that can stand up to weather and the elements will help your shed roof last for years to come. Besides the noticeable signs that your shed roof needs to be replaced, it might also be worth replacing if it’s near the end of its life span.
