"Rowdy was quick to answer our request for an estimate to pave our driveway. Our project was on property we own one hour from Pittsburgh, Pa. and with no utilities. He met with me on a Sunday, gave his estimate and could do the job on Tuesday. We accepted his estimate and the job was completed on Tuesday. The crew was professional and efficient. We can not be more satisfied with the overall outcome of their work. I would highly recommend their company and would use them again."

"Please don't confuse these guys with B&M paving. I made a mistake and called to complain about B&M and ended up having a great convo with the owner of P&M and gave them a job happily. P&M = GREAT. B&M = Just awful"

"Rowdy from R Williams Paving contacted me after I did a search on HomeAdvisor. He came to my home and gave me a great estimate the next day. He then said that they were finishing a job nearby so he could fit me in the next day. I agreed and he brought his crew out promptly the next morning. They quickly took away the old driveway and paved it. It looks great. After they completed the work, they did a thorough job of cleaning up. If the soil beneath your patio or walkway wasn't compacted, it will pull pavers down as it settles. Additionally, using bare soil instead of making a paver bed with compacted gravel and sand can cause sinking over time. To fix sunken pavers, consider recompacting the base and addressing any drainage or erosion issues in the area.

Professional installers often include a deep layer of crushed gravel under permeable pavers to allow more runoff to soak through into the soil below. Many installations will include multiple layers of gravel, with coarser aggregate at the base and finer aggregate that sits on top of that bottom layer. Above the gravel, you’ll often find coarse sand that helps reduce paver shifting over time. Some permeable paver designs include a water collection system set into the gravel layer to route runoff to a safe area for disposal.

You can pour concrete over asphalt if it’s in good condition, thick, stable, and well-compacted. Concrete is more durable than asphalt and can extend the lifetime of your driveway without having to pay frequent asphalt driveway repair costs or replace it completely. 

But this is best reserved as a temporary solution based on budget restraints, as asphalt requires more frequent repairs and assessments than concrete. Once that concrete top is poured, it’ll be harder to accurately understand what’s happening beneath that layer, which could lead to more issues.

The most obvious disadvantage of permeable paving is that the cost is typically higher compared to non-permeable concrete, pavers, or asphalt methods. Also, the porous material can get clogged with dirt and debris, requiring cleaning and power washing more frequently than standard paving materials and methods. Although permeable paving is not ideal for highways, airports, and other surfaces supporting heavy traffic and machinery, it is suitable for regular residential driveways.
