"John of Plymouth Nursery and Landscaping and his staff were wonderful. They did a terrific job cleaning up my property and planting all new beautiful shrubs and plants. Also installed a system to help with my water problem. My property was in desperate need of a face lift and John and his crew came through. I would recommend Plymouth Nursery and Landscaping!"

"Gary was very personable, knowledgeable and competent. He provided helpful ideas and suggestions for the design of the patio. He and his crew accomplished the work in a very efficient manner and the resulting patio was very well built and aesthetically pleasing. The shed pad was exactly what we needed. "Victor ... I think that's the right name ... was very informative and yet fun as he worked on my project (replaced leaky hose faucet and its indoor cut-off valve). He ALSO quoted replacement of the leaky hose faucet on the front of my house, but advised saving my money by not doing that. I liked that he tried to save me money. For example, he showed me that one leak was really a leaking hose, not faucet. To prove it, he put his own hose on my faucet and then offered to trade: my cheap, leaking hose for his professional one."

"I like Environmental Landscape Associates a lot. The owner was the one who created the estimate. He is a young guy but super, super intelligent. He did his job very, very well. He knew everything upfront. They were probably the best people I have dealt with with regard to contractor."

"Everything went very well and I am very pleased with their work. They are very efficient and were good with the oversight of the job. They managed and coordinated all of the electrical and plumbing trading and everything was handled very professionally. I would hire them again."

Fountains questions, answered by experts

Ponds enhance landscapes, support wildlife, and create a tranquil outdoor environment.

A good rule of thumb is to change 5% to 15% of your koi pon’s water every week. Partial water changes help keep your koi healthy, and replacing small amounts at a time prevents causing stress for the fish.

While they’re popular and have a lot of pros, the cons of river rocks include the following:

  • River rocks don’t break down or provide nutrients to plants.

  • These stones can get hot and scorch nearby plants.

  • River stones may heat the surrounding soil to inhospitable temperatures.

  • Rocks can block rainwater from seeping into the ground if installations are too thick or tightly packed.

Most downsides occur when using river rock as mulch in gardens and flower beds. However, you can still incorporate river rocks into your landscape as long as you use them in the correct ways.

Koi fish should be in the shade and can’t be directly exposed to the sun. Consider building your koi pond in a shaded spot or hanging an awning over the top to control the amount of sunlight coming in. Learn how to design a landscape properly.

One of the most important parts of building a pond is digging the right depth. Your pond needs to be at least one to two feet deep. The specifics of the depth will depend on factors such as the placement of the pond and whether you plan on having fish. If you have fish in your pond, it will need to be at least two feet deep.
