"As many of you know, I do not give endorsements or recommendations lightly Today would be an exception! ADAMS WILDLIFE SERVICES LLC I Tried last year to trap what I thought was A Groundhog, they dug under one of our decks and tunnel under our paver sidewalk where those Pavers Collapsed. Two other holes under the sidewalk around my pool, gave them unlimited access NOT THIS YEAR!!! I called Tom at Adams Wildlife services. He came to our house and set traps and cameras to record trapping success and to monitor their movements with in about a week Tom has captured and relocated five groundhogs, and the cameras show no more movement.!!! He and his wife have an extensive education, specializing in wildlife management and exhibit professionalism, which they easily communicate about the current situation and Their abatement plan in such a manner that is easy to understand!! Trust meâ ¦ If you have a wildlife problem, check out their website Adams Wildlife services LLC 570-855-3846 Recommended with extreme confidence Dale"

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

Look for goose repellents that contain the ingredient methyl anthranilate. This is a natural chemical found in grape juice. In human food, it’s often used as grape flavoring. With geese, it’s highly irritating. Grape Kool-Aid contains methyl anthranilate, the active ingredient in most bird repellents. It won’t harm geese, but it will deter them.

Both spikes and loose nets can be installed over nest sites to prevent the bird from returning, but nets are not a humane option since birds and other wildlife can get tangled in them.

Spikes are a humane alternative that deter nesting without harming the birds. In small areas, like vents, a very fine mesh net can be installed to prevent the bird from returning. These nets don't generally pose a risk to the birds.

Yes, bats can cause quite a bit of damage to the attic. Their weight and movement from flying around can damage insulation, and they can chew through wiring and the walls. As if this isn’t enough, they leave their droppings throughout, which carry harmful bacteria and is dangerous for humans to breathe in, not to mention the extremely foul-smelling odor.

When it comes to keeping birds from doing their business on your porch rails, you have several DIY options and home remedies you can try:

  • Tie a fishing line from one end of the deck post to the other. Birds won’t be able to see the line across the railing, so they can’t land on it.

  • Hang wind chimes close by, which may scare birds away.

  • Apply a bird gel repellent to the railings, which contains smells that birds generally don’t like. Or, similarly, you can apply citronella or lemon oil around the railings, since birds don’t like strong smells.

Using audio and visual methods to discourage birds might work initially, but birds tend to acclimate to them over time. While chemical deterrents can show some effectiveness, their results can be inconsistent. Some may dissipate too quickly, and there's a risk they might cause unintended damage to your surroundings. Additionally, birds might become immune or resistant to the impact of such treatments.
