Small jobs welcome

"Colt’s property service has done multiple projects for me and has done a good job with all of them. Most recently he regraded underneath my deck. And replaced the old footings. It was very tight and tricky to get a machine in, but he managed with no problems. Would definitely recommend going forward."

"Josh was very thorough with his work; Conscientious, and a hard worker. The project came in a little above the original estimate, but that’s only because we added more work to it. Josh suggested that we consider getting our paver stone patio pressure washed and sanded, so we had him do that and the retaining wall and had him apply sealer. The area looks fantastic!"

"We heard & read great reviews about Larry miller const. He did a ton of work on our home. He started with removing cement block walls in the interior of our home to expand our d/r & l/r. Drywalled the entire homes ceilings from a all drop type ceilings. He dry walled & painted the entire home. He built 3 closets throughout the home, installed vinyl plank flooring throughout our home. he then completely disassembled a 12x24 existing sun room from the house & erected it on a new trex deck that he attached to our existing pool along with a 40'x5' stone retaining wall aside of sunroom. After removing the sunroom he built a 24x12 cathedral ceiling bedroom where the sunroom once stood. we made tons of changes as we went through construction and it was as Larry would say "not a problem" & say "we expect this to happen during such a huge project". His work was impeccable & we are very happy with all his construction and the whole crew was so cordial throughout the project. They have all become friends, not just workers. Jeff & sue Schappell"

"A+ Landscaping did an absolutely outstanding job designing and constructing a new patio for us. When originally built, our house had a 10'x12' concrete pad that was not very functional. We wanted a new and larger patio that would be conducive to outdoor entertaining and also be very attractive, while also complying with local stormwater management ordinances. Marcus came out to our house, sketched out a design, and gave us some great ideas. When completed, the patio was about 450 square feet, with Techo Bloc permeable pavers, sitting walls, pillars, and and low voltage lights on a timer. ([*** Link removed ***] This was not an easy project, as the local Township stormwater management regulations required careful planning, extensive excavation, and an infiltration bed to be installed underneath the patio. In addition to the patio, A+ Landscaping also installed some river rock in an area where grass doesn't grow well, three large stepping stones, new mulch beds and plantings along one side of the patio as well as along one side of the house, and also installed three pop-up rain spouts in the yard. They started the project when promised and worked straight through until completed four days later. They also reseeded areas that were excavated. I am biased, but I believe we have the nicest patio of the more than eighty homes in our community! We spent about $17,000 for everything, but that included the patio and landscaping work. It was well worth the investment."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

If you don’t have a crawl space but have a partial basement you want to make deeper, you can expect to spend a little less—between $40,000 and $90,000 on average. However, if you’re not adding new finished square footage, you won’t see much in the way of ROI.

You should dig 3 to 6 inches deep for plastic edging. Dig as wide as you need to fit your plastic edging into it—2 inches is usually sufficient.

You can bury underground electrical wire six inches deep—but only if you use a rigid metal electrical conduit. For rigid, non-metallic conduits, bury the wire at least 12 inches deep. If using an underground feeder cable rated for direct burial, you'll need to place it at least 18 inches deep, as it has no conduit for extra protection.

You do not have to dig footers for a deck as long as it meets local code and holds up to weather in your area. If you live somewhere that experiences high winds and earthquakes, you may need to dig for your deck posts. Deck blocks, post anchors with base plates, and helical pile systems are the three no-dig deck post options you can choose from if local code permits.

While you can save some money by digging your own pool, you may end up paying more in construction equipment rental fees in the long run. You could, however, focus your DIY energies on lowering the cost of leveling your lawn for your pool or filling in surrounding landscaping after construction.
