"Had our carpet stretched. They came out quickly and were very pleasant. One small place that doesn't look quite right but the carpet looks much better than it did before."

"Apparently, many carpet installers today are Mexican/Hispanic. The installer spoke fairly good English. His helper spoke none. Other than that, they did an excellent, very professional job. The helper was a go-for. He took out and removed the old carpet and runners, swept and vacuumed, as well as brought in the rolls of new carpet. The installer is probably one of he hardest workers I've ever seen. He worked his butt off and did a fabulous install. Wow. Very impressive!!!"

"After I had made the appointment, the serviceman arrived thinking he was to clean my house, not shampoo the carpets. Phone calls back and forth to his office; finally got the directions right. Did adequate job but seemed to lose interest when I told him that three rooms had recently been recarpeted and didn't need cleaning."

Yes, carpets should be replaced after a house fire or significant smoke damage, even if they appear undamaged. Smoke, soot, particulates, and chemicals can penetrate deep into the carpet fibers and padding, making complete removal a complicated and time-consuming process. If water was used to extinguish the fire, it can also soak through the carpet and padding, creating a risk of mold and mildew growth. Due to these challenges and potential health risks, replacing the carpet is the safest and most effective solution.

No, it isn’t less expensive to install carpet compared to vinyl floors. The cost of installing carpet can range between $3 and $11 per square foot, so it falls just over the cost of installing vinyl flooring, at an average of $3 to $7 per square foot. On average, installing carpet costs between $3 and $11 per square foot, depending on factors like the carpet material, style, and labor rates in your area. Sometimes, installers will include carpet removal in these costs, so if you don’t have any carpet to remove, you can save time and spend less money on labor.

If you have a concrete subfloor, you must secure the carpet padding with adhesive or glue. However, if you have a wooden subfloor, use staples instead. Removing a glued-down carpet can be difficult and time-consuming, so it’s best to avoid glue when possible.
