"I had a 30 year old furnace on its last legs. Given I am someone who always does a lot of research before moving forward, I did some online research and besides the company that had been servicing my existing HVAC equipment giving me a quote, I contacted 5 other companies for bids on a new furnace and AC system. In my research, I read that the quality of the install is just as or more important than the brand of the equipment. And I definitely noticed a difference in the knowledge and expertise each company presented when I met with their company sales rep / estimators. I ended up with 7 quotes (one company quoted two different brands) but two reps really stood out from the rest with their knowledge. One was Lonnie Auten with Wade Heating & Cooling. Lonnie and a Trane rep were the only two who took the time to do calculations to ensure the system was properly sized (the others just looked at the size I was replacing and asked if I was happy with how it kept the temperature). Lonnie and the other gentleman were also the only two to notice a couple issues with the way our old company had installed a humidifier. In fact, even though I just had the furnace serviced a week prior and mentioned the humidifier was leaking – the old service tech did not fix it. Lonnie saw it was leaking, went out and grabbed a tool from his car and tried to figure out the issue to stop the leak. He discovered a slight crack in a supply hose and said he could have his techs fix it if they did the install (in the end I had them replace the entire humidifier). Lonnie and the other gentlemen were also the only two to talk about federal tax credits and to ensure the whole system was AHRI matched to qualify for those tax credits. They both took the time to answer all my questions I ended up with 2 quotes on Carrier, 2 on Bryant, 2 on Trane and 1 on Lennox equipment. While not the cheapest quote, the quotes provided by Lonnie and the one Trane rep were pretty competitive. I actually had a lower quote from another Carrier dealer, but I just felt much more comfortable that Wade would provide a higher level of installation and service so chose to move forward with them. My installation took place over two days and the two installers, Scott and Brandon were very professional, on time and did a great job. They asked me if I had any questions up front, told me what they would be doing that day, and kept me apprised calling me down when needed to ensure I was ok with a few placement decisions they had to make. They cleaned up everything, walked my wife and I through how to operate everything and made sure I was satisfied. Based on my experience, I would definitely recommend Wade to others. In fact, based on my interactions with Lonnie and before my install was done, I gave my daughter and her fiancé Wade’s name and number as they needed a pressure relief valve on a heating boiler in the house they just bought replaced and were not having any luck finding someone to service it in a timely manner. Wade was able to come out, order the part and plans to install it for them next week. Very happy with my experience."

"A regular furnace and air conditioning maintenance check on Wednesday, January 13 revealed that the heat exchanger was failing on our 17-year-old furnace.  There were other problems as well.  The condition was unsafe and we decided to replace the furnace and the air conditioning unit which had been installed at the same time, to take advantage of financial incentives and improved efficiency.  We've dealt with Homer Nine for many years, and they were willing to install the furnace immediately, on an emergency basis.  The day after the furnace check, January 14, they customized the sheet metal ductwork and installed a new furnace.  They came back the following Monday, January 18, they returned and installed a new air conditioning unit.  On every occasion, they were punctual and courteous, and described what they were doing.  They cleaned up completely.  This is why we've dealt with them exclusively for many years - a very professional company which treats its customers very well.

"It went okay. They get in there and you discover that you're actually having to pay more than what we paid initially because your house has more vents. It wasn't his fault that I had more vents. "Lloyd Calhoun works 8 days a week at the hours that work for you. He takes pride in his craft, delivering a high level of competence and excellent customer service at very competitive rates. I called him once, I’ll call him again, and I highly recommend him to you. The water heater died around 4 pm on a freezing January afternoon. Of course, I turned to Angie’s List where I found Calhoun Plumbing & Heating, which is in my zip code. Upon calling the number listed, I got voice mail, left a message, and Lloyd Calhoun returned the call in less than 30 minutes. It was already late in the business day and, if Lloyd had offered me a next day appointment, I would have been thrilled. But Lloyd came over that evening, after finishing his scheduled clients, to give me a FREE estimate. He answered all my questions to my satisfaction and I had a lot of them. The old water heater was paid for by the previous owner’s appliance insurance when I purchased the house. Being a naïve, first-time home owner, I hadn’t a clue what to look for in a water heater and was at the mercy of the plumbing company contracted by the previous owner’s policy. The company unnecessarily installed a power-vent water heater (which costs roughly $200-$300 more per unit than a direct vent model) in spite of the fact that the original water heater was located adjacent to a chimney, and there already existed a hole in the chimney to accommodate the vent pipe. Lloyd actually listened to me (!), confirmed my suspicions that the more expensive, power-vent model was NOT necessary, and gave me good information on features and pricing for direct vent models. Right there, Lloyd saved me $300. I’d been researching water heaters for months, had at least 3 plumbers out to the house for an estimate, and Lloyd Calhoun was the only plumber who was honest enough to sell me the less expensive, direct-vent water heater. The next evening Lloyd was back with a nice Rheem unit that fit the specs. Installation went off without a hitch. They carried the old unit out to the curb. (It was gone before the garbage truck made rounds the next morning.) The basement work area was swept and tidy when they left. What more can you ask for?"
