"The crew worked on our driveway in late July, early August. We’re very dissatisfied on how the job turned out. They cut out the bad section on 30 July and filled it with some sort of gravelly cold patch. The crew came back about a week later and sealed the driveway Problems: They DID NOT seal the gravelly patch area.........actually, they did seal a small portion of it, but that portion cracked within a few days Leads me to believe sealing any of it was a mistake as they must have KNOWN any part of the patch sealed would crack, but, of course, that leaves the driveway unfinished Highly related problem: The patch still has not totally dried, I can still push in on it with my thumb - and the situation is not getting better Hard to see how this job to be anything but a failure - ie, a waste of $3,600 Sign Grace Betts"

While the specific timeline for building a driveway can vary based on driveway length and local weather conditions, the average concrete driveway can require several days to lay down all of the different parts of the driveway. The most common causes of sunken pavers are poor base preparation and insufficient compaction. The problem could also be how your pavers were installed. If the soil beneath your patio or walkway wasn't compacted, it will pull pavers down as it settles. Additionally, using bare soil instead of making a paver bed with compacted gravel and sand can cause sinking over time. To fix sunken pavers, consider recompacting the base and addressing any drainage or erosion issues in the area.

Whether it's worth it to install a heated driveway depends on how often you'll use it, your lifestyle, and your budget. If you live in a mild climate with little snowfall, then installing a built-in heated driveway system may not be worth it. If you live in a region that experiences mild snowfall, then a portable mat could work better. However, if you live in a region with heavy snowfall, it makes sense to invest in a built-in heated driveway. 

Cobblestone is just one of many driveway materials. Other, more economical, albeit less elaborate options include concrete, asphalt, and gravel. 

If you want a material that most closely resembles cobblestone, your best option is bricks or pavers. Both cost anywhere from $10 to $50 per square foot and can be laid in all kinds of patterns. Depending on the type of paver you choose, you can also get a good bang for your buck by investing in durable natural stone.
