"Cody came out and did a fantastic job. Installed an attic fan and ran electric to a shed away from the house and ran electric around a patio outside. Cody is knowledgeable and does a great job. He even took extra time at the end to clean up more than I expected, I didn’t have to do a thing, and I’m always prepared to do a little clean up at the end. Single-pole switches are simple circuits designed for lower voltages. As such, they don’t require the complex wiring of switches that need to supply power to larger devices and appliances. This is why single-pole switches commonly go in bathrooms, closets, and other small rooms that power a low-watt light fixture. One wire creates the circuit from the power supply, the other goes to the fixture, and the final wire provides safety mechanisms through grounding.

If you’re replacing wires from an electrical meter box to the breaker box, you may also consider installing a new meter or replacing or repairing the breaker box . You can tell if the circuit breaker is bad if you’re dealing with tripping or worrisome burning smells. Both projects should also be handled safely by a licensed electrician.

Outlets with only two slots have no ground connection. That’s more common on very old outlets, which means it’s more likely the outlet won’t be polarized. You’ll have to closely examine the slots to see if there’s a size difference indicating polarization. Keep in mind outlets this old are usually out of code and should be replaced if you’re doing any electrical work.
