Small jobs welcome

"I hate being condescended to. Listen to what I want and then give suggestions on how I might be able to work that out in my kitchen. Don't just tell me it can't be done. I felt like I was wasting my time. I asked about a particular type of closet (not realizing it was part of a bigger cabinet...how would I know) and she told me to follow her (using her finger to me like a child) and said I couldn't have it because it was as part of a bigger piece. She could have just said that. I said if I can't make my kitchen more "usable" (less wasted space), WHY to with custom cabinets. I could just reface. The woman behind me who was waiting to ask her a question said. Listen, if you can't get what you want, I don't blame you for not spending the money. It's easy to reface. So, I called another company and, low and behold, I'm getting partial refacing and partial custom cabinets. He came and we discussed HOW I could get my carousel cabinet (uh - he suggested I go from a double to a single sink - easy peasy) AND, he came in at half the price your website suggested I might pay. It is really nice to be listened to...especially when it's MY money I'm spending."

"Vitaliy is an EXCELLENT painter at small details and the overall total job. He painted my 3 store wood framed home. He does not spill or spatter paint. He comes to work when he says he will (weather permitting). He is courteous and friendly and does exactly what you tell him you want done. It was my privilege to have such a good person working for me, an you'll not find a better painter within 100 miles of Erie, PA."

"We love our cabinets! They look fantastic while remaining affordable. The friendly staff at AWD helped us from start to finish. They are very knowledgeable and gave us advice and tips when needed. They were receptive and patient with our ever-changing needs. Once we finalized our purchase, we received our cabinets within two weeks! The cabinets are very sturdy and the color is beautiful. The hinges and hardware are high quality. We are extremely pleased with AWD and would recommend them to any friends or family looking for good cabinets at a fair price."

"I feel extremely fortunate to have found Vicki through Angie's List !  She is an extremely talented person who is very easy to deal with. She has a breath of knowledge that allows her to accommodate my tastes, but also ensure that the overall design is in sync with the design and location of my home.  She has  a very diplomatic way of suggesting when I'm going astray with my choices and in every case where she has told me "Trust Me"  I have been delighted ! She is very aggressive in helping me find the best pricing and often times will work with the vendors directly  hence saving me the time.  She also has excellent local contacts.  Everyone I've worked with through Vicki has been timely, professional, and highly competent.
My project is far from complete.  I intend to continue to use Vicki and her expert advice until the end !!!!"

"Dan Paskan with Customer Countertops did a fantastic job installing our cabinet doors, drawers etc., (Also constructed another set of drawers) He changed the way some of the doors opened for easier access. His expertise and work ethic speak well of his over 30 years experience. The cabinets are beautiful and of high quality ; Dan's bid was very reasonable. He cleaned up his work area each day; very neat. We highly recommend Dan Paskan"

": I met Jason while exploring cabinet refacing options for my kitchen. We have recently moved into the area, and the house we bought has (had) a dysfunctional bathroom. I'm disabled, and the design of the room was such I could walk in with my walker, but not turn around. I had to back out. Also, the door opened inwards and blocked the toilet. He and I discussed options (I was ordering cabinets online) and the scope of the project, and I hired him for this job. So glad I did. The job took longer than we originally thought, but the quality and effort was so good that the time didn't matter. Jason did the demo work, which included removing an 8 ft x 5 ft mirror (in one piece!!). The work involved included: Demo Installing new pedestal sink and faucet Light electrical (adding outlets and new light fixture) Plaster repair Installing base and upper cabinets Building laminate countertops Tiling Painting The bathroom looks great! And it is so much more functional since the cabinets are not as deep as standard cabinets. Jason did a beautiful job, and he was nice to have around. Also, since he is familiar with MS, which is what I have, he was actually able to make some suggestions that made a difference in how well the bathroom functions. That was GREATLY appreciated. I would highly recommend Gibson Remodeling. If it turns out I can remodel my kitchen, Jason will be who I call!"

FAQs for closet service projects in Cranesville, PA

Building a custom closet costs about $2,000, on average. Because many types, sizes, and designs are available, the cost to build custom closets ranges from $250 to $6,000 or more. A reach-in closet is on the lower end of the price range from about $250 to $1,500, compared to a walk-in closet at $750 to $3,500 or a wardrobe at the high end between $1,500 and $6,000 or more.

The main difference between a closet and a wardrobe is that a closet is a separate room for general storage with its own door, and a wardrobe can be either built-in or freestanding place to store clothing. A walk-in or reach-in closet connected to a bedroom often serves the same purpose as a wardrobe by primarily storing clothes and shoes. A built-in wardrobe often does not have doors and leaves clothes exposed to view, whereas a standalone wardrobe usually has doors.

You may need a building permit to add a closet, depending on the size and kind of work required to install it. The most likely scenario requiring a permit involves changing the structure of the house and performing electrical work for closet lighting. A permit can cost between $100 and $450. If you’re installing a smaller reach-in closet, a permit may not be required, but always check with your local municipality and consult a closet designer or builder.

Different types of closets are defined mostly by size. A few different types of closets include:

  • A reach-in closet is a smaller closet that you can stand in front of and reach everything inside it. Aside from the size, the doors and the level of drywall finish are typically the largest price factors.

  • A walk-in closet can be anything from a small 5-by-5 feet closet that has a narrow walkway with shelves on both sides to a 100 square foot bedroom-sized closet with shelving along the walls and plenty of room to move around in.

  • A built-in wardrobe often does not have a door and leaves the clothes and other contents open to the room, whereas a closet usually has a door to separate it from the rest of the room.

Yes, building a custom closet can definitely add value to your home. Creating a more useful and pleasing space to your home, especially a custom closet for prospective home buyers to imagine as their own, is likely to increase the value. However, avoid overdoing it with a closet that takes up too much space that’s otherwise more useful as living space, or paying extra for overly lavish materials and finishes that aren’t likely to add more value than they cost.
