"Hutton Painting was great to work with. Very friendly and patient, easy to communicate and schedule with. I wanted something different done with some crown molding installation than originally planned, and they were totally accommodating and helpful in designing a beautiful finished look."

"The proposal Pat provided was in line with the others we received. We chose Fresh Coat based on the positive Angie's List reviews and the timeline provided for the proposed work to be done since we have two young children and didn't want a prolonged inconvenience. Chuck and his crew of about 7 painters showed up promptly at 7:30am on the day that we scheduled 2 months prior. We were both amazed and delighted when they completed the work in only a day in a half. They were very accommodating to all of our requests and questions. It was impressive to watch the crew work so effectively and efficiently together. The painting and trim work how transformed our home exactly how we envisioned. For all the rooms we used 3 different colors. The left us with some leftover paint for each color (as well as the time) for touch-ups. We would definitely recommend this company for your painting needs."

"Tim did an EXCELLENT job!!  We had attempted to paint the bathrooms ourselves but took on more than we could handle.  Tim cleaned up our mess, and did a beautiful job of cutting in the accent colors.  When finished, he cleaned up thoroughly and the bathrooms look great!!  Carrie handled the scheduling wonderfully and was able to accommodate our schedule at a very affordable price.  We would not hesitate to use Timothy's Painting again!

"The team of Tom, Dan and Scott were very professional, courteous and friendly. They did a very good job in prepping the walls after removing the wallpaper which made for a smooth surface to paint. We love the end result."

"Ron Yohe, and his son Jay, painted the entire interior of my home. They prepared the walls, applied primer, and 2 coats of finish coat to the walls and trim. I am so impressed with their skill ? they are simply exceptional - and they are both a pleasure to be around."

"Extensive prep work with peeling white paint on top of dark wood, needed to be sanded extensively.  Ceiling work, patchng, careful trim work on ceilings and panels, polyurethane built in china cabinets and banister. Excellent work on ceilings, walls and trim. They were responsive when a test area showed color we chose was not what we wnated and we were able to choose another color before a large room was painated.  Be sure to specify that both sides of door frames are to be painted. They were very responsive when we noted polyurethane drips on a painted wall and Dan came on a Saturday to fix it. Work done included ceilings, walls, baseboards, trim, doorways for a large living room, dining room, 2 breezeways, stairway to second floor with banister and spindles and second floor hallway. Took 3 weeks to complete. Pay attention to detail."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

While some people are confident in their ability to replace concrete by drilling out the broken pieces and replacing them with bagged concrete, it’s possible to run into snags that make hiring a professional worth it. Trying to level concrete slabs can require special equipment, which can be pricey to rent and tough to operate. It's also crucial to contact your town's municipal office to ensure you are allowed to take on the project without a permit.

Once again, contact with moisture is the culprit here, though water-resistant varieties of wallpaper are less likely to become wet and develop mold. Using a high-quality exhaust fan or dehumidifier and leaving the doors or windows cracked after bathing will keep this issue at bay.

One of the biggest downsides to peel-and-stick wallpaper is that it doesn't last as long as traditional wallpaper. Its lifespan depends on several factors, including the quality of the paper, proper wall preparation and application, and the room's conditions. As a general rule, peel-and-stick wallpaper can last for at least five years, but this can vary significantly. Budget products may only last about 3 years, while higher-quality products can stay up for 7 years or more in ideal conditions. Factors that can shorten its lifespan include high humidity (such as in a bathroom), dirty walls, and low-quality paper. If used on flooring, expect it to last only 1 to 3 years unless sealed. However, the shorter lifespan can be seen as a positive, making it a great choice for people who enjoy switching up their interiors more frequently.

Yes, you can put wallpaper in a bathroom, but whether it's a good idea depends on several factors. Because bathrooms are high-humidity areas, it's crucial to choose a water-resistant wallpaper, such as one made of vinyl. Proper wall preparation is also critical to ensure the paper adheres well, even after many steamy showers. The wallpaper's placement also affects its longevity; it will hold up better on an accent wall or away from direct water contact, rather than immediately next to a shower. A well-ventilated bathroom will yield the best results.

Yes, you can apply peel-and-stick wallpaper over wood paneling, but it requires significant preparation for a good result. Peel-and-stick wallpaper has a weaker adhesive than traditional wallpaper and works best on smooth, non-textured surfaces like painted or primed drywall. Because wood paneling is often textured with grooves, any flaws in the underlying surface will likely be visible after application. To prepare the paneling, you must ensure the surface is free of cracks, holes, and protrusions by filling any indentations and sanding rough spots to create a smooth surface. An alternative is to remove the paneling and apply the wallpaper directly to the underlying drywall or plaster, provided it is in good condition.
