"I have a queen size bedroom set with Bookshelf Headboard & Hutch Dresser with Mirror that I purchased over 25 years ago. I loved this set. However, it was beat up pretty badly, and showed numerous areas of wear & tear. I was very disappointed that after searching everywhere I could think of, I was unable to find new bookshelf bedroom furniture comparable to the current one. Then I discovered Thomas Furniture. And after talking with Bob, he told me about his capability of restoring my furniture like new. I forgot to mention there were two other furniture restoration companies that told me the same thing. But following receipt of my pictures, they failed to contact me again. Anyway, Bob is the main person whom I communicated with. And, according to his word, Thomas Furniture Restoration came and picked up my bedroom set, restored it to like new condition, and returned it within a reasonable amount of time. I highly regard this company, based on my positive overall experience with them. Also, I would definitely recommend them to family & friends!"

In addition, I offer custom work (color changes, combination of pieces, the sky is the limit) and in home polishing and touch up (your home will sparkle). I offer both in home repair or I can arrange your piece to be brought to my shop and delivered back to you, leaving everything exactly as it was and your furniture better than I found it. No. Once you apply refinishing oil, it will continue to seep into the wood, making it difficult or impossible to refinish over top of it. Since the product contains an oil that’s meant to penetrate existing finishes, almost anything you put on top of it will bring the previous layer of stain with it. If you plan to refinish your cabinets more than once, it’s a good idea to go with the traditional method of sanding before applying a new finish to the surface.

Follow care instructions based on the material, regularly clean, and avoid moisture or heat exposure.

If you recently splashed paint on the wrong area of a wooden object, remove it with a solvent or caustic paint stripper. Some paint that has yet to dry may be removable by hand with coarse sandpaper or a plastic scraper. Another trick for removing dried-on paint is rubbing a dab of nail polish remover on the paint to remove it, but avoid touching the bare wood surface.

Removing the original paint or stain before refinishing is a good idea, as it ensures the new finish bonds strongly to the wood. If you skip the stripping or sanding step, the new finish may peel or flake away from the railing easily. Using a wood stripper will completely remove the old stain or paint while sanding will help to prime the surface.

In some cases, a simple clean, polish, and wax can make antique wood furniture look brand-new. However, always be sure to check the type and state of the current finish. Some furniture will require professional care, a new coat of finish, or even a new layer of stain to look like new.
