"The handyman arrived on time and was polite and friendly. They went to work immediately and determined what needed to be done and fixed the problem. "I contracted Bassett Home to update my 60 year old kichen. Bassett's did a fantastic job of refacing my existing cabinets that my father had built. They also installed some new cabinets to match along with a quartz countertop, new tiled backsplash, and new sink. "Project went great! Billy the installer worked with us and had good ideas, solved any problems he encountered and did an excellent job with installation and finish work. Gary our salesman, was also very helpful with planning and layout and recommended a tile installer that did an amazing job.
Thomas Kitchens also gutted and remodeled our entire kitchen this past summer and again did an excellent job. We are very happy with all the work Thomas Kitchens has done for us.

You can, in theory, tile your fireplace hearth with most tiles. However just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. For example, it’s much better to use unglazed tiles because glazed tiles are more resistant to cracking under extreme heat. Porcelain is more heat-resistant than ceramic, but you can still design the hearth as you like by putting the most heat-resistant tiles directly under the fire and, if it matches your style, add more decorative tiles further from the center of the fire. 

No, tiling over painted walls or wallpapered surfaces is generally not recommended. Textured surfaces and paints will affect the adhesive, possibly causing tiles to lift or fall off. Painted walls with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish are particularly difficult for adding tiles. It’s wise to strip the paint first if you install the tiles to drywall, although it’s still best to opt for a cement backer board.

You can technically install tile over tile, but we don’t suggest it. Installing tile over any surface that isn’t a completely flat and prepared subfloor will result in a shoddy overall job, uneven flooring, tiles that don’t adhere, extra weight, gaps, cracks, and room for moisture and dirt to enter. For the best results, only install new tile on a flat, sanded surface like subflooring or concrete that is prepared for tile.

If you have asbestos tile and would rather tile over it than remove it, or if your existing tile is completely flat and bonded tightly to the floor, you may be able to tile over existing tile. But experts recommend thinking twice before you do.

The easiest tile size to install is large tiles, and they’re easier to install than small tiles—the job is faster and simpler when there’s less placing, adhering, and grouting to do. However, when tiles get really big, they’re more difficult to handle, cut, and fit. Standard floor tile sizes are 12-by-12 inches, 18-by-18 inches, and 12-by-24 inches.

Costs range from $5 to $15 per square foot for installation and $150 to $600 for repairs, depending on the material and complexity.
