"Apparently, many carpet installers today are Mexican/Hispanic. The installer spoke fairly good English. His helper spoke none. Other than that, they did an excellent, very professional job. The helper was a go-for. He took out and removed the old carpet and runners, swept and vacuumed, as well as brought in the rolls of new carpet. The installer is probably one of he hardest workers I've ever seen. He worked his butt off and did a fabulous install. Wow. Very impressive!!!"

"Excellent service! When we lived in Maryland, I had used Stanley Steamers, but here in Pennsylvania, I decided to try this carpet cleaning business because it was on Angie's List with good reviews. Belles' did an amazing job on my carpets, which had never been cleaned since we had them installed four years ago. Our daughter and her now-2-year old lived with us for several years and the bedroom they slept in had so many spots on the carpet from the baby spilling things and generally making a mess. But Buddy at Belles Carpet Cleaning did such a good job that the carpet looks like new! I never thought this would be possible. See before and after photos below."

"I used World Flooring to install carpeting in our 3-bedrooms, living room, and basement. Daniel did an excellent job in explaining and showing us the carpet options available to us. I took the time to visit his retail store in Harrisburg to get a better visual of the carpeting options available. There is a myriad of carpeting colors and grades to choose from. He was awesome to work with. He was very patient, professional and knowledgeable. The pricing was very competitive as well. The installation was subcontracted to Brian and Nick who have over 30 years of carpet installation experience. They were on time, and got to work immediately and performed quality work. They did a good job of cleaning up after themselves as well. If you're in the market to have new carpeting installed in your home, I would highly recommend contacting Dan at World Flooring to at least get a price estimate and his suggestions."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Carpet tiles come with a preexisting adhesive backing, which means installing them is as simple as peeling off the paper and sticking them down where they need to go. In other words, no. You won’t need to purchase any separate glue to get your carpet squares situated. It’s already built into the carpet tile itself.

There could be several reasons why your carpet padding has adhered to the floor. Some of the most common reasons include:

  • There was intentional gluing or stapling to the surface.

  • The polyurethane and floor bonded over years of wear.

  • Pet urine, spills, or other substances leaked through the carpet and created a sticky surface.

If the carpeting in the home has not been changed in a long time, clearing off the padding underneath could be difficult. Pet urine can wreak havoc on carpeting and the flooring underneath. If you plan to reinstall carpeting, remember to use proper cleaning techniques for removing pet urine odors to prevent future problems.

Carpet installers use furniture sliders or blankets to protect your furniture during the installation process. They handle each piece with care to minimize the risk of damage. Additionally, they may employ techniques such as lifting and shifting furniture rather than dragging it across the floor to prevent scratches or other marks. If you have particularly delicate or heavy items that need to be moved, discuss special handling with the installers beforehand.

Yes, there are plenty of ways to lay stair carpet without grippers, such as carpet adhesive, magnetic flooring, or staples. Adhesive may be your best bet if you don’t want grippers, as it will most likely stick the best and cause the least amount of damage. However, if you’re looking for an easy fix, grippers are one of the best solutions you can purchase.

It is normal to glue carpet down, though it’s not the only or the most popular method of installing carpet. Modern techniques include tack strips and stretching the carpet, but you might still find glued carpet in older homes or a home with a DIY’d past. Removing a glued-down carpet will be harder compared to other methods of installation.
