"Joe is very easy to work with and does excellent work. I will be pleased to hire him again to do more painting. He did the necessary power washing, stained our back deck and painted three garage doors. Very nice job."

"Mike was honest about the state of our roof - estimate was free and he told us that we'd only get 3-5 more years more out of the one side of the roof, even with maintenance. I found that very honest of him, because saying that opened up the possibility that we'd forgo the repair and replace the whole roof instead. Unfortunately that was not an option for us so we opted for the repair. After he came out, the leak was fixed. And now we know we have to save up for a new roof ASAP."

"Joe painted our hole house (3,000sq ft+). From the initial meeting with him, he explained to my wife and I the different color options that we had to paint our house with. He is professional, has good communication, and his quality of work surpassed our expectations. I could not have asked for a better result. Everybody who has been in our house has commented on the painting. So if you need a paintor, Joel is the one to hire."

Small jobs welcome

"I managed a 311 unit apartment building. John completed all of our unit turns in a clean and timely fashion. Every unit was clean when he left, and no paint splatters on floor or fixtures. He was a great help in emergency situations as well, working all hours and days to get the job done when necessary. I would recommend John to anybody."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is important to wash your deck before painting to ensure the paint applies well and adheres properly. While you don't have to use a pressure washer, it is one of the most efficient cleaning methods. Pressure washing can quickly remove dirt, wood fibers, and flaked paint, getting deeper into the wood than manual scrubbing. You can also clean the deck with a stiff broom and a cleaning solution. Regardless of the method, a clean surface is essential for good paint adhesion. Make sure the deck is completely dry before applying any paint.

To make sure the paint won’t bubble as you apply it, make sure to paint on a day that’s cooler than 85 degrees Fahrenheit. When the temperature is too high, the paint won’t dry evenly, which can result in bubbles forming on the surface. Another way to prevent paint from bubbling is to clean the walls, apply primer, and let everything dry completely before you begin.

Staining a deck is typically less expensive upfront than painting. The cost to stain a deck professionally averages around $850, with most homeowners paying between $550 and $1,250, depending on the deck's size. A DIY staining project can cost less than $100. The cost to paint a deck ranges from $500 to $2,000. While the initial cost of staining is lower, it's important to consider long-term expenses. Paint can last up to 10 years, whereas stain needs to be reapplied every few years, which could lead to higher costs over time.

The best type of paint for concrete exterior surfaces like concrete porches, steps, or walkways is high-quality exterior-grade paint with strong weather resistance. Acrylic latex blends with tiny anti-slip particles will help create an anti-slip coating for your concrete porch. This type of paint will stand up best to the elements, especially rain, snow, and ice. An exterior epoxy will also help strengthen your concrete porch.

Yes, pressure-treated wood can occasionally turn green due to certain preservatives, such as copper-based chemicals, used during the treatment process. These chemicals react with the wood, creating a greenish tint. The good news? It's temporary, and the color will fade over time. Staining or painting can also help hide any unwanted hues.
