Small jobs welcome

"I have used Mr. Miller twice for my decking project. Both instances involved getting a structural engineer to certify design changes as this was a re-build and the building inspector wanted to be sure that I would do the work correctly. He answered both my concerns in a timely fashion with the appropriate documentation and I was able to proceed with my project."

"Well organized, and responsive. Gave me the analysis I requested, and pointed out a potential problem with related construction that he noticed in one of the images I supplied. Very happy with his work and attention to detail."

"We called Rick to discuss installing an addition to our home for a garage, master bedroom, and master bathroom.  We also requested quotes on fixing some exterior items included soffits, fascia, gutters, installing a deck, paving the driveway.
Rick was extremely friendly and responsive.  He is very professional and knowledgeable about his field.  We went through a couple of options and then decided on what was expected to be the cheapest option.  Rick built the plans for approval.  This process took longer than expected: was supposed to be about 30 days but went well over 60.  Not a concern for us because we are willing to wait for proper planning for a large project.
We got the plans, drawings, and scope which only cost us $1500.  They are nice and thorough plans that could be used if we were to move forward with the project with Rick or anyone else.  They were nicely done.
We chose not to go forward with the project because the quote in the end was more than double the original discussion.  It would price our home out of its market and was unexpectedly high.
Rick is a very nice, professional engineer who is thorough with his work.  The price quote was just so high it wasn't even worth starting a negotiation to us.  If you use Rick for plans or drawings, we highly recommend him.

"Ed responded to our request for a structural engineer consult very quickly, and was able to come out and give us a consult within 2 hours (and on a Saturday). His assessment of the detached garage walls of a home we are about to buy provided both us and the sellers much more peace of mind in moving forward with the deal; he provided options that would likely be more permanent (which is what we wanted) and cost less to repair, and represented the objective opinion we needed. All the contractors we had talked to were just confusing and upsetting us with differing recommendations and cost estimates. We highly recommend Ed Brenkus..."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

In Butler, you’ll find structural engineering contractors specializing in foundation repair, structural inspections, and reinforcement of load-bearing elements. Some focus on residential projects, addressing issues like basement waterproofing and wall stabilization, while others handle commercial or multi-family properties. When selecting a contractor, look for expertise with Butler’s soil conditions, a strong track record with local permitting, and experience in both preventative and corrective structural solutions.

Helpful?

Combining structural engineering work with other home upgrades in Butler is a practical way to save time and minimize disruption. For example, schedule foundation repair alongside basement waterproofing or structural inspections with roof replacement. Coordinating these projects allows for more efficient permit processing and contractor scheduling, and can help ensure that all improvements work together to protect your home’s structure and value.

Helpful?

Investing in structural engineering projects in Butler can make your home more attractive to buyers by ensuring a solid foundation and up-to-date structural systems. Foundation repair and structural reinforcement are especially valued in older homes, which are common in Butler. A documented history of structural inspections and upgrades can set your property apart, reduce buyer concerns, and often lead to a smoother, faster resale process.

Helpful?

In Butler, structural engineering maintenance often includes routine foundation inspections to catch early signs of settling or cracks, especially due to the area’s clay soil and freeze-thaw cycles. Regular structural inspections of beams and load-bearing walls help spot moisture or termite damage. Clearing gutters and maintaining proper grading around your home also protect against water intrusion, which is a common cause of foundation repair needs in Butler’s climate.

Helpful?

Completing structural engineering projects in Butler offers immediate benefits like enhanced safety, improved structural integrity, and compliance with local building codes. Over time, these upgrades can reduce the risk of costly foundation repairs, improve energy efficiency during harsh winters, and help prevent water damage. Investing in structural reinforcement also makes your home more resilient to shifting soil and changing weather, ensuring lasting peace of mind.
