Small jobs welcome

"Rafael and his team went above and beyond to repair our home, which had flooded due to a broken pipe. As he was dealing with my elderly parents in the renovation, Rafael was very thoughtful and considerate in explaining every detail, was up front about the process and the costs. And had great communication with me during the process. I could not have hired a better company to get our home back into a livable condition, I really feel that RF Home Remodeling LLC went above and beyond and would highly recommend them!"

"I was searching online for a roofing company to replace the roof on my shed because it was beginning to collapse from deterioration. The first company to give me a call right back was Avany Contractors. They came over to take a look and gave me a free estimate. I hired them that same day for the job. They were able to schedule me for the upcoming week. When that day arrived, Avana Contractors were punctual, and professional, and they got the job done on time. My shed looks brand new with the newly installed roof. Avany Contractors also cleaned up after they finished their work. I will be hiring Avany Contractors for future house projects because they are reliable and do quality work."

"I work from home full-time, so having contractors in the house for several weeks made me nervous. But honestly, the Belmax crew made it so stress-free. They showed up on time every morning, greeted my dog, asked before moving anything, and cleaned up before leaving. The project manager checked in constantly, and I always knew what was happening next. The new island and layout make cooking so much easier, and the craftsmanship is obvious ? even the small details look perfect. It feels good when a company treats your home with respect. Belmax absolutely earned my trust."

"I had a great experience with DreamWorks Remodeling. Oleg and his team were a pleasure to work with - from the initial estimates to the final work being done, he kept us informed of the progress of the project every step of the way through phone calls, emails and text messages, and was more than able to answer any questions we had. To me, one thing that set DreamWorks apart from other contractors was their down-to-earth approach to sizing up the project. We ended up not getting the cheapest materials and not getting the most expensive materials, but found a good balance that would be more than sufficient for our needs. He also made sure that we were involved in any decisions that needed to be made when it came to colors, materials, placement of downspouts, etc. The manufacturer they use for shutters had about 20 different color options, but none of them were exactly what we wanted. Oleg was able to provide paintable shutters instead, so that I could just paint them whatever color I wanted and his team would then install them. This worked out well for me, as I was able to get exactly the color I wanted. They were also willing to replace the roof of our shed using the same shingles as the house, which ended up looking great. What really impressed me was the workmanship they showed in replacing the siding. This is a really big job - essentially covering every square inch of the house in new siding, replacing any rotted wooden fascia with new wood pieces wrapped in aluminum and similarly wrapping all window frames, light fixture base units, plumbing fixtures and really anything sticking out of the house with clean, aesthetically pleasing materials. As a result, it looks like a brand new house on the outside, and we couldn't be happier with the results."

"The owner Frank Hammer was very responsive and punctual and did good work however I can not give him a good review because he did not fulfill my initial reason for contacting him.  I had some major renovations done on my house in prepration for putting it on the market.  There was never a final electric inspection performed and certification sticker on the circuit breaker.  Frank was very accommodating to my schedule and showed up on time for our meetings.  He informed me that in order to certify the electric work he was going to have to do some additional work for it to be up to code.  The list of work is from his proposal.  I agreed to the work and was told that I would receive the certification after his inspector checked it all out one week later.  The inspector had to change the date and I went out of town in the interim so I gave Frank the lock box code to enter.  When I returned a week late, I didn't see evidence of an inspection being done.  I was expecting a sticker on the circuit box.  Frank said it had been done but that he'd have to label the box with another guy first and then the certificate would come to me in the mail. A week later I still had not received the certifcate in the mail, to which Frank said the inspection agency was working on it and would put it in the mail . Another week went by still no certificate.  A potential buyer had a home inspection performed and discovered the dishwasher didn't work.  I asked Frank about it and he immediately came over to trouble shoot it.  He discovered the dish washer was never wired!  I'll be leaving that review for another contractor.  I told Frank that I'd call that contractor about doing the work wince I already paid him for it, but Frank said since he had already performed a final inspection he had to do the work. The job needed to get done since I had a buyer and Frank was kind enough to take on the job right away and rewired the dishwasher, running a new line to the breaker in the basement for $785.  He also mentioned that the inspector would have to come back and reinspect the job.  IT goes on and on...Another week goes by , he said he'd email it another week that it takes 30 days but that it was definitely coming. I happened to be at the house one day a few weeks after I stopped asking Frank for the cert and L&I showed up to do the final building inspection.  They asked about the circuit box and where the inspection was.  I told them the whole story and L&I was kind enough to call Frank and somehow finished up with him  I'm sure he is very busy and he is good at what he does but I have a feeling that being a woman was a disadvantage when dealing with Frank and that he would just tell me whatever he thought I wanted to hear but not the truth.

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Carpenters are trained to take on a wide range of home projects. You can hire a carpenter to do framing, roofing, build custom furniture, and make significant upgrades to your home. General carpenters are usually able to handle most jobs. However, you may also choose to hire a carpenter who specializes in a specific type of carpentry.

Traditionally, bungalows are single-story homes, although having a half or partial story on top of the first floor is common. While adding a second story to a bungalow is certainly possible, the home would no longer be considered a bungalow by the strictest definition.

One of the most common house framing basics for decades has been using wood for the framing work. However, some framing contractors now suggest using steel frames. Steel is lightweight, resistant to fire, and resistant to moisture, all of which are areas where wood framing could cause problems. However, steel framing is more expensive than wood and limits your ability to insulate the home.

Using a steel frame may raise the value of your home. Steel is more heat resistant, has better longevity, and doesn’t need any upkeep compared to traditional wood. You can also customize a steel build a little easier than other materials like brick, concrete, and vinyl—which have trouble bending and adapting to renovations.

Most load-bearing walls are exterior, though they can also be interior.
