"My wife and I were driving to town last Sunday afternoon and saw Tony's car pull in behind us;  we stopped and flagged him and his wife down, explaining that we needed work done on our driveway.  Tony went by our house that afternoon, measured everything and gave us an estimate / proposal on the spot.  We accepted and scheduled the work to begin the coming Wednesday.  On Tuesday, Tony and his foreman showed up to prepare our driveway - nice touch.  Tony and his team showed up the next morning at 9:00 am, let us know they were there, and began work -- they finished, as promised, at 3:30 pm.  The quality of their work is easy to classify, because it was outstanding.  Tony's been in this business for quite some time, and it shows -- he knows exactly how to get this type of work done at the highest level, on schedule and at the promised price.  The highest recommendation I could Tony and his team would be to answer the following question:  would I hire him again?  And the answer would be yes, definitely..."

Customers say: Quality work

"AWESOME! That is all I can say about this company, John is a true gentleman, very professional and, friendly! I called him and left a message to get an estimate, he called me back two hours later, we set something up, and a few days later showed up, took notes, went home and gave me a written proposal the next morning. Very fair price! Not the most expensive, and he wasnâ t the least expensive! You get what you pay for, and I got more than I paid for, he went out of his way to take care of a few things that needed to be done that we didnâ t even discuss, and the best part, no extra hidden charge, which I totally appreciated! His crew is outstanding, very professional, cleaned everything up like they werenâ t there. I highly recommend them, John truly cares about his reputation you will not be disappointed!"

"Great ! the job was done really well and we have started receiving compliments as to how good the patio looks. Even on the driveway, extra work was put in to rearrange the garden bed and then line it with stone wall. Will definitely hire again for any future needs."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

In the United States, roads are usually categorized as one of three types: public roads, other drivable roads, and non-drivable roads. These categories dictate how a road can be used; a non-drivable road might be classified that way because it is heavily damaged and unsafe for cars.

New asphalt goes through two stages: drying and curing. Drying typically takes 24 to 72 hours, after which the surface is solid enough for light use like walking or careful driving. While you may be able to park on it after 72 hours, the surface is still soft and should be treated gently. Full curing is a much longer process, taking anywhere from 30 days to a full year for the asphalt to reach maximum strength. During this extended curing period, the asphalt is susceptible to damage from heavy vehicles, sharp objects, and high temperatures. Factors like weather, the specific asphalt mix, and application thickness all influence drying and curing times. For the most accurate timeline and to ensure the longevity of your new asphalt, it is always best to consult with your installation contractor for their specific recommendations.

If you notice minor cosmetic problems with your driveway, you should seal it. Look out for cracks and holes on the surface, faded asphalt or concrete, and stains from oil and other chemicals. Replacing your driveway may be necessary if you’re dealing with significant problems—¼-inch cracks, large potholes, and puddles from drainage issues. The cost to install an asphalt driveway typically ranges between $4,200 and $9,000, significantly more than resealing. Consider talking to a professional to discuss whether resurfacing your driveway—a midway project between resealing and replacing—is a better option for you.

In most cases, you don’t need a permit to repave your driveway, although some exceptions exist. If you’re widening your driveway and plan on widening the apron as well, you’ll usually need a permit from the Department of Transportation in your area. This permit costs between $50 and $300 in most cases. Most municipalities will also require a certified and insured contractor do the work relating to the apron and curb cut. You can contact your building department or ask your paving company if you need a permit. Your driveway professional will usually pull the permit for you.

Driveways should be sloped with a minimum 2% slope—anything lower will cause precipitation and runoff to collect. A 2% slope is the equivalent of a 2-foot rise over 100 feet. One quick way to check the integrity of your driveway’s slope: no more than four inches of water should collect on the surface longer than 15 minutes after rain.
