"The first experience with Bob was the dining room chairs. He re-glued them and then refinished the wooden frames. Then he found Betty to re-upholster them. The price was right and his work was excellent. So we kept giving him other refinishing projects to do. We are not finished. We have some new bifold doors for him to finish next."
PA055967-James A. Munion had a start just like anyone else, at the very bottom. He swept up the work shop for a company called Dotson brothers when he was only 12 years old. Mr. Dotson said to James A.: ?I actually can?t believe that you moved the glue buckets out of the way to sweep in the corners. The last kid we had never took the time to do that.? From that day forward, James had a permanent place at Dotson Brothers. He quickly moved on to shop hand, and was allowed to help create the laminate counter tops the company made. After only a short amount of time, Mr. Dotson had trusted Jim with crafting them on his own. Jim took to it with excellent initiative. However, after an extended amount of time creating counter tops, it was time to move on with his career? James? grandmother owned a two car garage she rented out for tenants. The day he said he was going to start his own business, she, (politely as an italian-broken-english-speaking grandmother could,) kicked out the two tenants immediately and gave him his work shop. Since that very day, we have been running the business out of that very same two car garage. We have been family owned and operated since we turned the power on in the shop, in 1978.\nKitchen & Bath Remodeling - Cabinets, Vanities, Cabinet Refacing, New Cabinets, Bar Tops

The best way to test the quality of a leather couch is to put your hands on it. If the upholstery is soft and warm, that’s a good indication that the quality is higher. It should also smell like traditional leather. If it smells like chemicals, you’re probably dealing with low-grade leather.
Upholstering allows personalization, extends furniture life, conserves resources, refreshes decor, and often costs less than buying new pieces.
The time required to reupholster furniture depends on the item's size, complexity, and condition. The hands-on work can range from 2-3 hours for a simple dining chair to 10 to 20 hours for a large sofa. The total project timeline with a professional, including fabric sourcing and scheduling, typically ranges from one to three weeks.
Several factors can affect the timeline. Antique furniture often takes longer due to the delicate care required. If additional repairs are needed, such as sanding or refinishing wood components, the process will also take more time. A DIY reupholstery project will usually take significantly longer than a professional job.
Depending on the quality of the leather, this type of upholstery can last anywhere from 5 to 20 years. The more time you invest in the care and protection of the leather, the longer your leather furniture is likely to last.
