"Corey listened to our desires for the closet space. He designed, created, and installed a closet system that checked all our boxes and then some. He worked hard to make our dream a reality. Now the closet is not organized and functional, but beautiful as well. Highly recommend!"

"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"Cory and Lonnie installed a shower for me and I am so glad I decided to move forward with the project! They cleaned up my house better than I do! It was a white glove service! Anna and Greg checked in throughout the entire project to make sure I was satisfied. I will definitely be using them again for my next bathroom remodel!"

"Sean is the best! He was very prompt in giving me an estimate. When he arrived to do the job, he was very professional , got to work right away, master of his trade, and when the job was finished clean up was superb. You never knew I had someone in my home doing construction. Sean will forever be my go to handyman."

Closets questions, answered by experts

DIY is possible for basic designs. Professional services ensure proper construction and space optimization.

The vertical space between closet shelves depends on what you're storing. For clothing like shirts and sweaters, 10 to 12 inches is enough. Towels and linens need 12 to 15 inches, while tall storage bins may require 18 inches or more. Overcrowding your shelves can reduce accessibility and increase clutter, so be sure to leave breathing room for your items.

When you are securing your DIY home office built-ins to the wall, you should start by locating the wall studs. You'll then want to use long screws to attach the cabinets, shelves, and bookcases directly to the wall studs. Your built-ins will be far too heavy to attach to the drywall alone by using anchors.

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.

Common materials include wood, laminate, and wire. Choose based on durability, style, and budget.
