"They came to the door and talked to my wife and I talked with them the following evening. They just gave us a bid on the job and it seemed reasonably fair but I went online to Angie's List website, they hadn't had much experience doing roofing. That's was just only part of the hesitation in using them at this point. They seem really professional and reasonably good."

"Bob gave us a reasonable estimate. He pointed out I have dry rot on my T111 siding when 4 other companies never mention about it. When the crew came to do the job, it proved they are right. Bob always reply to my email with questions. They did a really good job on replacing sidings, painting the house and staining the deck. I already recommended them to my coworkers. Thank you Bob for helping to pick the color of the house. It looks beautiful."

"We are a retired senior couple in South Salem. We hired N W Painting Company to paint the exterior of our three bedroom, 1500 sq ft. home. The owner operator Martin E. Llamas Frasuto offered the estimate with lowest price. He and his assistant did a marvelous job. Their workmanship was impeccable. They were professional, courteous, attentive, and responsive to every request and concern. The project was finished in the time frame promised. I heartily recommend their work to others seeking a house painting contractor."

"RSU was responsive to phone message, scheduled one of their people to come, and he cleaned and stained the deck well.  RSU also replaced a few old boards in the deck, and did it all within budget, and in a professional manner.

"AJ Painting was 1 of 5 painting contractors I interviewed for a project that had a time limit to do. My niece and her husband purchased their first home, and as a house warming gift, I wanted to have the entire interior painted before they moved in. They signed the papers on Monday afternoon, AJ Painters had 4 days to complete this job. AJ painters arrived early Tuesday morning and started to work. By the end of the day on Friday, they had completely painted the entire 1700 sq ft home, everything. Bedrooms, bathrooms, living and dining rooms, kitchen and the utility room. They worked non-stop. The next day, Saturday, my niece and her husband were able to move into their newly painted home. Thank you to Abraham and his son Antonio. They are highly recommended."

"They did a real good job. They were real professional. We can now open the garage door from the inside of the house and now it is so smooth that we have to check to see if we hit the button to open it or close it.  Before we used to know when it was opening or closing because it used to make a noise. It helps when you move to a city where you are new. "

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Wood stains last anywhere from two to five years, depending on exposure to the elements, your local climate, the type of stain, and the surface it’s on. For instance, vertical surfaces last longer than horizontal surfaces. Some types of woods, like dense hardwoods, will require a recoat yearly, as they are too dense for the stain to absorb. In any event, apply a recoat every 2 to 4 years. As for storage, a can of unopened stain can last up to 5 years, though results may vary.

Wet-sanding and dry-sanding each have pros and cons. Dry-sanding is less messy, so it’s a good option if you’re trying to minimize dust (for example, if you’re sanding an occupied home or working with particularly dry or dusty drywall mud). However, dry-sanding is quicker because you don’t have to keep rinsing a sponge or wait for it to dry before painting.

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.

Hangers are one way of attaching stair stringers to a deck. These metal hangers are usually adjustable, allowing you to find the ideal angle for a secure installation. They’re the best choice for installing longer staircases, such as one on a two-story deck, to reduce the load on the deck frame while keeping the stairs stable.

A concrete overlay is often the most cost-effective way to resurface a pool deck. To do this, you’ll need to pour a thin layer of concrete over the existing pool deck, which you can customize by stamping or painting. A stamped concrete overlay provides additional traction on a pool deck that can help minimize the risk of people slipping and falling.
