"Julio, owner of Raul Landscaping, did an outstanding job for me. He was extremely professional, well-spoken, and very nice to deal with. In addition, Julio has vast knowledge about plants and trees. His expertise was key in determining why some of my plants were not thriving and how to fix the problem. Upon our first meeting, Julio gave me a free, on-site estimate to clean up my property which included weeding, pruning the bushes and trees and removing the dead plants. He returned a few days later to do the work. He completed the job in about 6 hours. I am truly amazed at the transformation he achieved. My place looks like it did when we moved in 20 years ago. I feel like a proud homeowner again, thanks to Julio. His prices were right on target for me and I have since hired him for my monthly maintenance. In the twenty years that I have lived here, Julio is the first guy that I would be proud to recommend. A to Raul Landscaping! (Janine Martin, from Carmel Valley, CA.)"

"This was Larry’s first time cutting and servicing my lawn, and I was very pleased with the results. The yard looked noticeably neater, the edging was clean, and the overall appearance was a significant improvement over the previous service I had been using. He listened to what I asked for, followed through, and appears to take pride in doing the job properly. He also sprayed the areas that needed attention and initially did not intend to charge for that spraying, although I insisted on paying him something. I also appreciated seeing him and his helpers working together. They showed a strong work ethic and were consistent and thorough. Based on this first cutting, I am very satisfied with his work and look forward to seeing what he can do with landscaping my backyard."

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

Lead toxicity comes from inhaling lead or consuming it. Before the 1980s, when the government banned lead from consumer use, it could be found in paint, plumbing, pipes, ceramics, and even gasoline. Lead paint is toxic for the same reason lead itself is toxic, which is why lead poisoning from paint presents the same as lead poisoning from water or food sources, with a slight increase in respiratory symptoms vs. digestive symptoms. Lead paint is most dangerous when it’s old and peeling, cracking, or otherwise disturbed. This increases the concentration in the air and, therefore, in breathable air.

Some companies offer hazardous waste removal, but additional fees and special handling procedures may be required.

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a chance that any paint on your hardwood floors could be lead paint—especially if it was already there when you moved in. Because lead is toxic, hiring a licensed pro to remove it is mandatory. The average price for professional lead paint removal ranges from $1,500 to $5,300 and depends on the scope of the project.

No, you can’t place hazardous waste in a dumpster unless you specifically ordered a dumpster for hazardous waste removal. If the dumpster company finds hazardous waste that it didn’t approve for dumping, the company will return the waste to you, and you’ll likely face a fine for illegal dumping.

While the EPA provides guidelines for homeowners to perform DIY lead paint removal, it is a risky process and generally not recommended due to serious health risks and strict regulatory requirements. The process requires precise safety precautions, such as wearing a respirator and protective eyeglasses, creating sealed exits, and using a HEPA vacuum for cleanup. To ensure the job is done safely, effectively, and in compliance with regulations, it is highly recommended to hire a professional lead abatement company. Certified professionals have the necessary training, experience, and specialized equipment (like chemical strippers and HEPA vacuums) to handle and dispose of hazardous materials safely.
