"Brad and his crew were very professional and the quality of work was exceptional. I contacted Brad last minute after having had a tree break during the latest storms in Oregon. He quickly returned my call and offered to come look at the job within 2 hours. The same day he and his team removed the damaged tree and I had him also remove two other large trees in my yard. He showed up on time, completed the job quickly, and did so without doing any damage to the house or my neighbors house. All in all, I'm very impressed with his work and would highly recommend him to others!"

"B&B did a great job on our 6-unit condo. It was pretty dirty (and green) from the winter. The gutters hadn't been done in a while and were loaded with nasty stuff. B&B was very responsive to my original inquiry, gave me a great quote and we agreed on a date. That day, our driveway was blocked by construction vehicles so they worked with the construction guys to figure out when they'd be able to get in and rescheduled accordingly. They were prompt and worked very hard and got it done in a day. The place looks great and we'll definitely be calling them again next year. THANKS!"

"Powers tree service did a great job in removing a very tall tree, as well as several smaller trees in my yard. They also cleaned up my yard - it’s much better than before. They were very professional and very nice people. I highly recommend this service."

Small jobs welcome

"Had a great conversation with Rolando about restoring my property with native plants. He presented a concise but thorough plan to remove non-native plant species and revegetate with natives over a reasonable amount of time. He was also very informative about emerald ash borer prevention. Looking forward to implementing his suggestions and working with him further."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

While trees can grow in the curb strip between the sidewalk and the street, this placement often poses the problem of interfering with overhead power lines. It’s best to consult your local utility provider and tree planting service before transplanting a tree that might grow into power lines. Also, you should never work within 20 feet of a live power line to avoid the risk of electric shock. Tree branches should never touch nearby power lines, so it’s essential to ensure your tree isn’t in danger of growing too close to them.

Yes, burning wood with Dutch elm disease is a safer way to dispose of it than, say, tossing it in with the rest of your yard waste, which could potentially allow it to spread to healthy trees. But it’s always a good idea to check with your local government to make sure you’re complying with any ordinances about removing diseased trees as well as burning brush piles.

Opt for a barefoot tree. Pros harvest barefoot trees when they’re dormant (leafless). They shake the dirt from the root ball and pack it in moist material.

These trees can cost half as much as the trees at your local nursery, and you can buy them online—so there’s a much wider selection. Just make sure you keep your barefoot tree cool until you’re ready to plant it.

The best tools for tree removal include a chainsaw for large trees, an ax for notching and cutting down small trees, and a wedge to help control the direction a tree falls in. A hatchet can be useful for very small trees, but won’t be effective for medium to large trees.

State and local laws vary, but in most cases, you are allowed to trim any branches from your neighbor's tree that cross your property line. However, it's important to ensure you do not damage the overall health of the tree in the process. Removing branches incorrectly can jeopardize the health of the tree and could lead to you being on the hook to replace it.
