"We chose Carpetco because we wanted to support a local company. We purchased carpet and laminate from them in 2015 and had them install it. This was a major purchase, as it was our entire house. They installed the laminate incorrectly which voided our warranty with the manufacturer. They had to come back after one year and then two years to re-stretch the carpet. Our carpet now looks like it's 10 years old and is buckled in multiple places in every room. They refuse to warranty their work. They ignored my inquiries for weeks at a time. The worst customer service I have ever experienced, and we are out thousands of dollars for wanting to shop local. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!"

"Everything about there work was excellent! First they were prompt in coming out to give us an estimate and kept to their schedule. Their estimate was detailed and reasonably priced (we did have other estimates and their detail was the best and their prices were in line with, actually a bit lower, that the other estimates). Their estimate was based on installing a "floating" floor which would be the least expensive way to proceed but when they started the job it became apparent that a "floating" floor would work but wouldn't be the best and they explained to me how a "nailed" floor would be a much higher quality job. I agreed and the indicated that a "nailed" would incur more costs. When I received the revised cost proposal I noted that it was reasonable in regards to the additional materials and they were willing to absorb the additional labor costs. I found this to be more than fair on their part, and very positively impressive on their part - VERY HONEST PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH. Their people came in, worked hard for long days, kept to their committed schedule, and when little issues came up they always dealt with them in a way that gave me a better quality job. Our end job looks GREAT. I don't want to redo my floors again soon, but if it happened MB Flooring would be the ones getting the job. I would be glad to let people come to my house to see for themselves the kind of work they do. If you have a choice give MB Flooring the most serious consideration. Ed O'Rourke Florence OR p.s. In most cases, you don’t need to put anything under carpet tiles—unlike regular carpet, which often has a layer of carpet padding beneath it. Carpet tiles attach directly to the floor (as long as it’s a firm surface like plywood, concrete, or tile) with peel-and-stick adhesive, double-sided carpet tape, or carpet glue.

While it's possible to cover asbestos tile with carpet, it's not recommended. Encapsulating tile beneath carpet doesn't eliminate the health risks. Over time, the asbestos tiles could degrade, releasing fibers into the air and potentially contaminating the carpet. Disturbance during carpet installation or removal might also release fibers.

Some flooring companies recycle old carpet after replacing it. The broader flooring industry has been moving toward recycling more carpet material. However, whether an individual carpet gets recycled is up to the flooring company that removes it. When gathering quotes for new flooring in your area, ask each company about removal options and what they do with the material.

Costs depend on carpet type, labor rates, and additional services like padding or transitions.

While it’s possible to install carpet yourself, it’s best to hire a local carpet installer to ensure it’s done correctly and safely. Before installing carpet yourself, check whether the manufacturer’s warranty will remain intact. Many manufacturer’s warranties won’t cover the cost of materials under the warranty if it wasn’t installed by a pro. In addition, you should only install carpet yourself if you’re familiar with the tools required and if the installation is straightforward, not involving things such as floor vents or stairs.
