Small jobs welcome

"Curtis and his crew did fantastic work completing a major repair to my deck. After I requested an estimate through Angi, Curtis called within a couple of hours and arranged a time to assess the situation. He spent 30 to 40 minutes inspecting the deck and then provided an estimate within a couple of days for the first phase of the project, which needed to be completed right away to stabilize the deck against any possible damage to my home. Curtis communicated clearly throughout the project and came up with options that not only restored my deck, but improved it against future damage and wear. Curtis and his crew completed my project with impressive care and expertise. The cost for the work was fair, and did not exceed the estimate. I highly recommend Curtis Murphy - Eagle Point Building Services, and will be calling on him for future projects."

Customers say: Quick response

"Tim contacted me and we met. I picked out a metal awning of my chosen color. He ordered it and said it was about 4-6 weeks out. He called when it came in and he installed it. I'm very happy with the product and he was very nice and professional. I would highly recommend him to do your job."

"Oscar and his crew did an excellent job. We would use them again in a heartbeat. They went the extra mile and even replaced damaged sections of the wood sheathing underneath the roof, which we never would have seen if they cut that corner and didn't do it."

"Todd and his crew, remodeled my kitchen, from the floor to ceiling, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. They were professional and courteous during a time of high stress. It was difficult to get products but Todd made it happen and in a very timely manner! He was great about giving suggestions but still working within what my vision was. I love my new kitchen!"

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Yes, you will need a jack for a rim joist replacement. To prevent sagging and facilitate the removal of load-bearing wood, you’ll need to relieve the pressure from this joint before beginning work.

Due to hydraulics and other specialized equipment, a sill plate and rim joist replacement are not typically a DIY project. Hiring a professional structural engineer and experienced contractors is the best approach to replacing rotted sill plates and rim joists.

Framing is the shell of the house. It includes several steps, including studs, plumbing, and electricity. A professional will ensure the wall frame is secured for the house’s structural integrity.

Framing prices change depending on the material and whether the wall is load-bearing. Most contractors use wood to frame a home, but metal is another popular choice.

Most load-bearing walls are exterior, though they can also be interior.

While some highly experienced homeowners can frame a house independently, it is not advisable. You will need ample carpentry experience, a team of helpers, and professionals to sign off on your work to meet local building codes. For the safest outcome, we recommend buying or building a house with the guidance of professionals.

When deciding whether to use nails or screws for framing, the specific needs of the project must be taken into account. Nails have long been the go-to option for framing due to their affordability, ease of installation, and ability to withstand shear forces. They are perfect for structural framing projects where fast assembly is essential. In contrast, screws offer exceptional holding power and are particularly useful in situations requiring increased strength and resistance to pull-out forces. For projects that prioritize accuracy and long-lasting quality, screws may be the preferred option, though nails remain a dependable and efficient choice.
