"Fast response time. Quality of finished work. Cost conscious. Very friendly. Listens and responds to what we want. Offers cost effective alternatives, especially when we arenâ t exactly sure how to deal with a problem. Treats us like we are their favorite customer, which we love, even though we know it canâ t possibly be true. Iâ ve dealt with other contractors who, as soon as they get the job, they are off trying to get the next job, while our project stalls. But Robertâ s team gets on it and gets it done. I couldnâ t be happier"

"This is the second time I called them. They do great work and are great people. The first time I used them they were part of a competitive bid process and they chose a significantly less expensive approach to my problem which was minor. I firmly believe the other contractors wanted a significant payout to make it worth their while to do the work. This contractor will tell you truthfully what is wrong and will fix it for a fair price. When it came time for this job I didn't even shop around. And they did not disappoint. If I had anything negative to say it would be that I had to be proactive in getting them to communicate when they would do the work (they are very busy). BUT I did tell them I was in no hurry for it. I think I am partially to blame and won't ding them too much for this. I have other jobs that need to get done and will not hesitate to call them when I can find the extra cash to pay for it. I highly recommend them."

"When we decided to redo our kitchen in April of 2012, we knew what we wanted fixed, our budget and that's about it. We started talking to contractors, kitchen design centers and researching ideas. We quickly realized we were in WAY over our heads. A lot of places offer free design services if you buy all of your materials through them. We didn't want to be tied down. We didn't want a complete tear down to the studs, either. Homemade Design to the rescue! First of all the price was an absolute steal for the service provided. Amanda and co. Listened to what we wanted and came up with inovative, functional and beautiful solutions. Our house is old. We wanted to keep that 1920s feel, but still have a dishwasher, granite countertops and stainless appliances! Amanda had the brilliant idea of only replacing the bottom cabinets. She also gave me excellent instructions on how to refinish my existing cabinets so they look like new. This was a perfect solution for US. Homemade Design gave us ideas for layout, cabinets, lighting, wall paint, appliances, furniture, countertops, backsplash, faucets, sink, and cusions for built in. She would have recommended flooring if we wanted, but we didn't. Now, Amanda is more like a consultant...( I actually called her my kitchen remodel therapist). You still are ultimately responsible for the plan and what works for you. If your measurements are off (like mine were) that's on you. I was adament about no island and no microwave over the stove and so she didn't put those in the design. Some suggestions were not my style. And I said so. Honestly, if I picked out my own kitchen it would be so safe: white subway tile or something. Amanda gave me the guts to mix patterns and create something spectacular! It took almost a year to complete ( contractors fault) We did a lot of work ourselves. We bought the cabinets, backsplash tile, light fixtures, table and banquette cusions through Homemade Design at a great discount, we checked!! If you try shopping for any part of your kitchen, the volume of choices can be overwhelming. We loved having Amanda narrow it down for us. Communication was through email, mostly. She never took longer than three business days to respond to my million questions or concerns. Awesome. 5 months later, my kitchen is a dream come true. And I owe it all to Homemade Design!

"Once I sent her all the measurements, it took her a little while to get the options back to me.  Overall, they're good designs.  However, they're very simplistic and give general ideas for space planning.  I was hoping to have a better idea for sizes of furniture for the space and some variations on staging.
Jill was very responsive when I did have a question.  I'm not sure how helpful it is to have a virtual design done.  If we lived in similar cities, I'd probably use her again for help with additional designs.

Using a steel frame may raise the value of your home. Steel is more heat resistant, has better longevity, and doesn’t need any upkeep compared to traditional wood. You can also customize a steel build a little easier than other materials like brick, concrete, and vinyl—which have trouble bending and adapting to renovations.

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.

Proper Murphy bed installation minimizes the risk of wall damage. A secure attachment requires making some holes for anchors or brackets, but these can be easily patched if the bed is removed. To ensure the installation is done correctly and safely, hiring a professional is recommended, especially if you have limited DIY experience.

When deciding whether to use nails or screws for framing, the specific needs of the project must be taken into account. Nails have long been the go-to option for framing due to their affordability, ease of installation, and ability to withstand shear forces. They are perfect for structural framing projects where fast assembly is essential. In contrast, screws offer exceptional holding power and are particularly useful in situations requiring increased strength and resistance to pull-out forces. For projects that prioritize accuracy and long-lasting quality, screws may be the preferred option, though nails remain a dependable and efficient choice.

If you remove a load-bearing wall to create an entrance to a carport or covered patio, you can expect to pay between $3,200 and $9,500, with an average cost of $6,400. Factors such as the type of addition and if that area needs additional work will add to the price.
