"Moss Busters sent out Colton and Hayden to clean my tile roof. They did a stellar job! They even took care of the moss growing out of my Gutter Helmet (TM) gutter which is a tricky undertaking. My 34 year old roof looked good as new. I feel that the amount charged was on the low side. $1870 for 20 man-hours. Would definitely hire again for the next cleaning."

"The entire gutters were throughly cleaned and an 18 foot section was replaced. They showed up on time and charged accordingly. I couldn’t be happier choosing this pro. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs gutters cleaned and/or repaired."

"I inquired about having my gutters cleaned out and the men were here that same day, after finishing their last job for the day but wanting to make sure that my patio would stop flooding. I really appreciated their promptness. They did a very good job, and I would hire them again."

"Brian was kind and professional. Brought his own gear and only needed access to a water spout. Suggested that he blow debris off the roof as well to make sure that the gutters remained clean. Not only did he clear the gutters and downspouts, but he left the gutters looking clean, and also cleaned up debris from the property. Great work, great value, would absolutely recommend this company."

Small jobs welcome

"Excellent service. They communicated well and worked hard, removing moss, treating the roof and cleaning the gutters, as well as making sure the job site was thoroughly cleaned up afterward."

"Excellent company that maintained my house in Portland while I was living out of state for a few years. The crew always did a great job and were easy to communicate with. They will fix fences, if needed, and clean gutters. I hired them because my neighbor across the street had such a nice yard and she used them. 10/10."

Gutter Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The kind of gutter guards you have will affect how often you need to clean them. The more basic type of gutter screen requires cleaning once or twice a year. With a micromesh screen, you may be able to extend the time between cleanings to every two years or so.

However, if you have trees near your roof, you’ll need to clean your gutters more frequently, especially if you have chicken-wire or colander-type gutter guards. If you have pine trees near your roof, you may even need to clean your gutters quarterly, as tiny pine needles can get through any type of gutter guard.

No—gutters should be designed and properly installed so they are ready to handle any level of rainflow from your roof. If you notice pooling water around your gutters or on the roof, it’s imperative that you contact a gutter repair pro near you—the slope of your gutters could be off and need adjusting.

Yes, you can use a pressure washer to effectively clean debris, dirt, and grime from your gutters, but it must be done with caution to avoid damage. Always use a low-pressure setting, with a recommended range between 1,200 and 1,800 PSI. Excessive pressure can bend or dent aluminum gutters, damage seams, peel paint, or even knock shingles off your roof, potentially leading to leaks and moisture issues. For a safer alternative, consider soft washing or cleaning them by hand. When using a pressure washer, it is safer to use gutter elbow extensions from the ground rather than climbing a ladder, as the force can cause instability. Due to the risks, you may want to hire a licensed and insured contractor for the job.

It’s recommended that you clean your gutters after a severe storm, however, regular storms don’t raise the same concerns. Look for signs your gutter might need cleaning after a harsh storm. Do you see broken branches and excessive leaves all over your yard? Chances are your gutters caught quite some debris. Also, ensure a few drying days before cleaning your gutters. Dry debris is much easier to clean.

Clean regularly to prevent clogs, check for cracks, and ensure downspouts direct water away from the foundation.
