"We had four area companies evaluate and quote the replacement of a gas floor furnace for our mill house. We have been very happy with the performance and lack of blower noise for the furnace, but it is difficult to find a company that still handles them. We got everything from "the city is going to condemn your house unless you do this or that, and you'll need to find another additional contractor to handle some of the work" to "we can't do the job without a large outlay to meet city codes". We were fortunate to contact Dave at AccuAir and he was both familiar with the furnace and was way ahead of the game on how to install the unit to pass the building codes. The team from AccuAir was extremely professional, personable, fast, and neat. The quote was ideal for our budget and the installation passed city inspection without a hitch. It was so great to deal with a company that knew what they were doing, weren't trying to upsell you into something expensive, and did not use scare tactics. We would not hesitate to use AccuAir again, and feel very comfortable recommending them."

"Repair Clinic sent me a water intake valve that had some scuff marks and an unnecessary fixture (which I thought nothing of, assuming it had been removed from a new dishwasher). When the part did not fix my dishwasher's issue, I ordered a circulation pump, which also failed to fix the issue, so I decided to return both parts. Repair Clinic blamed me for the scuff marks and extra fixture, which is unacceptable. They referenced their return policy which states that parts which have been installed cannot be returned, and denied me any form of refund. For all I know, the water intake valve was defective, and I have no recourse. Don't put any stock in the "No-Hassle 365-Day Returns" they proudly tout on their homepage. Instead, expect finger-pointing and uncaring dismissal. You are better off with one of their many competitors."

You can also install drainage over existing concrete by digging out enough space for a channel drain or French drain or by adding a culvert below the slab.

If you’ll be digging up your floor to get access to your pipes when putting in a sewer backflow preventer, this would also be a good time to take care of any other plumbing issues or renovations. For example, you could install additional pipes for a basement bathroom. Since the floor will be sealed over with concrete when you’re done, now’s a good time to take care of those bigger tasks.

A range of certified professionals can install French drains, from foundation specialists to plumbers. However, you’ll want to make sure that the professional has a breadth of experience installing the specific type of drain you need in or outside your home. Your contractor should also have experience with sump pumps, waterproofing, and flood-proof landscaping.

You should inspect and clean your French drain at least once per year to keep it in working order. Regular inspections can help identify clogs, buildup, and damage before they become a bigger problem. It’s also a good idea to check the access and exit points after heavy winds or storms to ensure everything is clear.

You shouldn’t use a French drain if you have nowhere for the water to go.
