"Blake Excavation was recommended and we are ever so grateful! Our Septic Drainfield had failed after 42 years and we were in need of urgent help. Despite delays courtesy of an understaffed DEQ Jason kept us informed and was onsite the minute the permit was approved. The crew showed up on Friday and worked through the weekend to get us back online. They were courteous and caring and we are ever so grateful!"

"i called purist plumbing for a price on a 50 gallon gas water heater got a quote on the spot . we set an appointment they arrived on time and what seemed to be a short time they had removed and installed the new water heater to code and cleaned up. The price was great and with all my questions Jerry answered them directly it was a pleasure doing business with him. I will definitely use purist plumbing for any future plumbing issues."

Storm Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

There's a long list of benefits of adding a storm door to your home, making the minimal cost, difficulty, and time commitment of installation well worth it. It protects your home from rain, wind, and show, improves your energy efficiency, allows you to save money on electric bills, offers great ventilation, and deters break-ins.

Yes, installing or replacing a storm door is a manageable DIY project, especially for those with experience replacing regular doors. Many modern storm doors feature simple, pre-hung designs and come with the necessary hardware, making installation more convenient. With basic tools, a DIY installation is possible, though professional services can ensure proper alignment and weatherproofing. On average, installing a pre-hung storm door takes about four hours.

If you’re replacing an interior door, it’s best to get the work done in the summer or winter, as door installation professionals are the least busy during these seasons and might charge lower labor costs based on the decreased demand. You can also potentially save money by hiring a professional to install your exterior door during these seasons, but most homeowners wait until the spring or fall so that the extreme temperatures don’t put added strain on their HVAC systems while the door is being added or replaced.

Storm doors last about 25 years, although high-quality and well-maintained storm doors could last up to 50 years. The type of storm door can impact lifespan, so be sure to consider the durability of different frame materials and glass types before making a purchase. Also, keep in mind that while storm doors can typically mitigate the impact of strong winds and harsh weather, repeated exposure to storms can wear down the door and shorten its lifespan.

The cost of storm door installation is influenced by several factors, including the door's material, type, size, and any customizations. Additional features like high-efficiency models, enhanced security locks, or special screens can also increase the price. Labor costs will also play a role in the final expense.
