"This company did an outstanding job with our remodel project. Their team handled everything from planning to execution with professionalism and attention to detail. The workmanship especially the framing and finish work was solid, and they kept the site clean throughout the project. Communication was consistent, and any concerns were addressed right away. We’re extremely happy with the results and would work with them again."

"After an exhausting search for a kitchen remodel contractor who would follow through, we hired Joe and his team at Western Build & Design. Honestly, and after the runaround we had been given by several previous contractors, I was highly skeptical of Joe’s promises as they seemed all too good to be true. Thankfully, he has stayed in close contact with us and has stayed true to his word. His project managers, Chris and Deana, are both highly professional, skilled, honest, and efficient. The two have them have ensured that project runs smoothly and that we will end up with just the look we were hoping for. We will likely hire this company again to tackle another one of the updates in our house."

Board and batten is a type of wainscotting that uses wider boards that are placed vertically, and it has a much more rustic aesthetic than wainscotting. Common wainscotting styles are raised-panel, flat-panel, and beadboard. Wainscotting is more intricate and will typically use more elegant, subtle trims compared to the more farmhouse-inspired boards of board and batten styles.

It is common for a contractor to ask for a down payment before starting a project, especially for jobs that require purchasing materials and equipment or hiring a crew. The deposit amount can range from 10% to 50% of the total job cost. While a request for up to 50% is not unusual, a contractor should not ask for more than that, and you should never pay for a project in full before the work has begun. To protect yourself, always discuss payment terms before starting and have a written contract that outlines the project timeline and expectations. Additionally, be sure to hire reputable contractors and check their licensing and insurance before the project begins.

Whether or not it’s easier to cut wood when it’s wet versus dry depends largely on the type of tool you use and the wood you’re cutting. For example, a chain saw should still be able to cut through wet wood with relative ease, but it may be more difficult to maneuver due to the wood fibers sticking to the chains of the saw.

However, you might want to avoid cutting wood entirely when it’s wet if you’re pruning your tree. Sawing a wet tree that you don’t plan on removing can also encourage bacterial and fungal growth and decay.

There are several mistakes you should avoid when using butcher block countertops. Don't place hot pots or pans directly on the surface, as this can crack the wood and cause permanent damage. Avoid leaving wet items sitting on the surface, and wipe up liquids as soon as possible to avoid stains.

Yes, carpenters can fix squeaky floors. They have the expertise to identify the source of the squeak, whether it’s loose floorboards, subfloor issues, or joist problems. These experts also have the right tools and hands-on knowledge to secure the flooring and eliminate the noise, ensuring a long-lasting solution.
