"Vanhook is a horrible Sanation company. They are the only ones that offer dumpster service. I called to have dumpster service. They told me it would be a couple weeks. This was Sept 2020 we are now the end of July. They don't answer there calls or text messages. My daughter n son in law tried to help by calling them to get service for me. Told them both they would be dropping off dumpster and no dumpster stopped answering there calls n text messages. We are reporting them to BBB and filing a complaint on them"

Generally speaking, it’s absolutely worth it to repair a garbage disposal, so long as it’s eight years old or younger. Once you pass that eight-year threshold, it depends on the issue. If it’s a simple jam and the core components remain unaffected, call a local plumber for a quick repair. If it seems like the motor is wearing down, spring for a replacement unit. 

These appliances do unscrew, but you need to disconnect everything properly when you replace your garbage disposal. Make sure you shut the power off to the area first and check that it’s off with a voltage detector. Garbage disposals last an average of seven years but can function well past 10 years. However, as time goes on and more food is ground, the grinding plates will slowly lose their edge and need replacing. A motor likely won’t last 10 or more years, but you should be able to get a minimum of five years at least, even under heavy usage.
