"We are extremely happy with how our new windows and new front door turned out. After some unexpected challenges with the way our home was built, our installation crew quickly and efficiently adapted to make sure our windows and door were installed with expert care. Every time we see our new beautiful picture window we are left breathless! And our beautiful front door is the perfect upgrade for the look of our home. Thank you RBA!"

"It went fine. I was told it would take one day but it took two days. The color match was perfect and looks great. The higher price for the leaf proof guttering was well worth it. I doubt that it can be beat at any price. I won't be on a ladder cleaning gutters anymore."

"Everything went exactly as David said it would. While the shingles were being replaced, the installers noted that the original builder had used pine trim on the chimney housing and they were rotting. David replaced the trim with cedar (which it should have been originally) and some of the siding at a cost of the materials only. David monitored the work frequently, although his crew is very experienced and didn't need much supervision. I was very impressed with how David explained the extra things that he was doing that many roofers skip. I had complete confidence that I was going to get the most professional work available and that is what David gave me."

"We met Rick Dean of Superior Home Improvements at the local state fair. He had a great display for his products. We had been talking about replacing the windows in our home for years. Both Rick and we were in the right place at the right time! We invited Rick to give his product presentation at our home. He measured our windows and provided a very reasonable quote for complete replacement of our old aluminum frame windows with insulated double pane windows. Our old windows had cracked glass and leaked in cold air in winter and radiated heat in the summer. We were so excited at the prospect of getting new windows! We had to wait a couple of weeks for the install to begin due to the holidays. The installer, Ty, and his crew were very professional. Ty went above and beyond making sure our windows were level in their very not level openings. He even reset a window after checking his work and finding it was not set correctly. After installing the new windows, he came back the next week to put up new trim around them. They are beautiful windows! Overall, the experience with Rick and Ty was wonderful. Both were very professional. The windows themselves are amazing! They are manufactured by Polaris Windows and Doors. The windows are beautiful to look at and beautiful to look through. They open and close easily. They tilt in for cleaning. But most importantly, they donâ t radiate heat in the summer and they keep the cold out during winter!! We love the windows and are super happy with the great service we received from Rick and his team!"

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is possible to repair a damaged or cracked mirror, but whether you should do it yourself depends on the extent of the damage. For minor issues like small chips, cracks, and scratches, you can use a DIY approach. Resin-based repair kits can fix minor cracks, while scratches can often be removed with metal polish, nail polish, baking soda, or a glass polisher. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the best results.

However, for more significant damage, DIY repair is not recommended. Repairing and resilvering mirrors is a delicate process that can involve caustic chemicals and requires a high level of precision. The materials for a DIY attempt can cost over $100, which may not be a significant saving compared to hiring a professional. Since a failed attempt could result in more damage and higher repair costs, it is often better to hire a mirror repair expert from the start, especially for large, valuable, or extensively damaged mirrors.

There are a couple of different mirrors that can make a small bathroom look bigger. If you need a functional mirror in the space, choose a frameless option instead of a mirror with thick or intricate framing. Heavy frames can make the space feel cluttered. Additionally, you can swap a large mirror with small frameless mirrors to create the illusion of more wall space.

You can hang bathroom mirrors in either orientation—vertical or horizontal. Factors like the bathroom layout, lighting design, vanity size, and mirror shape and size may make one orientation more practical. For example, a tall vanity with a tall faucet and low-hanging light fixtures may force a horizontal orientation for a rectangular or oval-shaped mirror. Looking at bathroom mirror ideas can help you decide which you like best.

To maintain a glass shower door, clean it regularly with a non-abrasive cleaner to prevent soap scum and hard water stains. Using a squeegee after each use is also recommended. Additionally, periodically check for leaks and ensure all hardware remains secure to prevent long-term damage.

The average mirror has a lifespan of 10 to 15 years. After that, the coating begins to deteriorate, losing its reflective properties. Acrylic mirrors have a slightly shorter lifespan of seven to 10 years. Higher-quality acrylic sheets with UV-resistant properties have lifespans similar to those of your average mirror. By maintaining your mirrors and keeping them out of direct sunlight when not in use, you can extend their lifespan. Some mirrors can last for decades.
