"Go Green Lawn and Tree Service is a family operated business. They immediately made me, the customer, feel like family as well. The professionalism by everyone there that I encountered is hard to find these days. They kept in constant communication with me and continuously made me feel like the priority. I had a rather large project. They exceeded all of my tree removal and trimming needs while keeping the life of my trees a priority. From first contact to project completion was about 8 days, including a holiday weekend! My project through Go Green cost me half of my expected cost to complete. "I recently hired Emerald Tree Care and Land Clearing LLC for tree removal and land clearing, and they exceeded our expectations from start to finish. The crew arrived on time, explained the process clearly, and worked very professionally throughout the entire job. They safely cut down several trees, cleared out overgrown areas, and made a huge improvement to the property. What impressed us most was how efficient and organized they were. They had the right equipment, worked carefully around the property, and paid attention to safety at all times. It depends. Smaller, younger trees take longer to mature, but they're more resilient, their roots don't get as damaged during transplanting, and they recover faster. Plus, they're much more affordable to plant, and it's possible to DIY the planting. 

On the other hand, mature trees produce fruit faster and provide more shade and privacy immediately. Ideally, a small or medium tree is the better choice if you can wait a few years for it to mature. But if you need immediate maturity, a larger tree is the only option.

Tree experts don’t advise against digging through tree roots, but instead encourage caution and consultation with a local arborist to make sure you don’t damage the tree’s structure or interrupt its water or nutrient intake. An arborist can recommend specific practices when digging and help prune the roots or dig a trench for utilities with a tool that can remove soil without touching the tree’s roots.

Generally, you should prune around 20% of an apple tree’s growth—and never more than 30%. This means that if you have a severely overgrown tree, it can take a few seasons to prune it back enough to produce the healthiest fruit. 

If you’re dealing with a newly planted or juvenile tree, hold off on pruning beyond the initial shaping. Wait at least a couple of seasons into fruit production since pruning can increase the number of water sprouts and unproductive foliage.

The best time to cut down a tree is during its dormant season, typically in winter or early spring, after all the leaves have fallen. Removing a tree during this period is advantageous for several reasons. Frozen ground helps secure the tree stump, protects the surrounding landscape from damage, and reduces the risk of the tree falling in an unintended direction. With the leaves gone, there is less risk of the tree's foliage getting tangled with other trees. Additionally, since this is often a slower season for tree services, you may be able to hire a professional at a lower rate. This dormant period is also the best time for tree trimming.
