"There are 2 levels in my yard and the lower level is about 4 foot lower than the house so I was looking to put up a fence to prevent my kids from falling accidentally and also as requested by the home insurance policy providers. They were actually  2 of about 4 or so contractors we called that even returned out phone calls! They provided a written quote, left some material about the company and also discussed the work with us. The spacing between links on chain link comes in different sizes.  Vendor did not measure existing spacing and the replacement chain link has larger spacing so the tie in is somewhat mismatched.  Also, the bottom stay wire was not threaded through the links but just rests on the outside of the fence so it does not actually "stay" the fence.  The quality of the fence and posts themselves was good heavy metal.  Vendor was significantly poor at communication.  Didn't answer emails or phone calls.  Vendor did not start the job on time due to being behind on a more expensive job.  Vendor did not show up on time once the job was started.

However, vendor was personable and polite and had a very good suggestion on a piece of equipment to hold the gate open on windy days (which we have a lot of those here).  It is great and I get compliments on it.  The quality of the installation was good.  He also went out of his way to find just the type of gate I wanted and installed new gate posts to replace the ones I had that were rotted out.  The posts are of high quality and the tie in to the existing fence was done well.

I believe my job may have been early in his business and it is hoped that in the intervening two years the young man has become more proficient in communicating, designing, scheduling and implementing the jobs.  He is a nice young man with a lot of potential.
