"There are 2 levels in my yard and the lower level is about 4 foot lower than the house so I was looking to put up a fence to prevent my kids from falling accidentally and also as requested by the home insurance policy providers. They were actually  2 of about 4 or so contractors we called that even returned out phone calls! They provided a written quote, left some material about the company and also discussed the work with us. Still deciding if we want to have the fence installed due to the price or just limit the kids to the front yard until they are old enough.

"Too expensive. I hired another fence provider to do the same job for about 1/2 the price. Prime Fencing quoted me a turnkey price of $1500 to install an iron railing around a small 5'x6' front porch, and hand railings down both sides of four steps. I wound up hiring another contractor who did the same work for a turnkey price of $775. I'm glad I shopped around for another quote.

Update:
Although I did not use Prime Fencing for the small job I needed done, I appreciate the time they spent answering my Angies List comments. The next time I need any fencing, I will again call Prime Fencing for a quote. I don't always use the least expensive provider, but on that one house I really needed to cut costs. Thank you Prime Fencing, and I'm sure we will be doing business in the future! The vast majority of companies do not take the time to answer a review if they did not get the job. These folks are true pros. Give them a call for a quote!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

In Guthrie, watch for storm damage such as bent posts or missing panels after severe weather. Leaning posts or gaps at the base often signal shifting clay soil. Look for termite damage in wood, rust on metal near the ground, or outdated fencing that doesn’t meet current codes—especially around pools or property lines. These issues suggest the fencing may need significant repairs or replacement.

Helpful?

In OK, even minor post movement can indicate bigger problems with shifting soil. Water pooling along the fence line—common in Guthrie’s flat areas—often leads to rot or rust. Early warning signs like insect activity, sticky gates, or peeling paint can quickly escalate. Addressing these small issues promptly helps prevent more extensive repairs and keeps your fencing in good condition.

Helpful?

New homeowners in Guthrie often start with privacy fencing for close-set homes, followed by pet containment to comply with local ordinances. If there’s a pool, pool fencing is a must for safety. Garden fencing helps keep out deer and rabbits, while decorative front yard fencing can define property lines—especially useful in older neighborhoods with unique sidewalk layouts and irregular lot shapes.

Helpful?

Fencing in Guthrie benefits from annual inspections, especially after storms or freeze-thaw cycles. Wood fences should be stained or sealed every two to three years to resist sun and moisture. Regularly remove vines and brush, as OK’s growing season is vigorous. Lubricate gate hardware, check drainage around posts, and treat for termites to prevent long-term damage and maintain your fence’s durability.

Helpful?

In Guthrie, homeowners play a key role in confirming property boundaries, especially in historic districts where lines may be unclear. Selecting fencing materials that withstand hot summers and ice storms—like cedar, vinyl, or metal—is essential. You’ll also need to match fence style to the neighborhood’s character, check city rules on height and setbacks, and arrange for underground utility marking before installation begins.
