(2) Shingles: Remove wood and shingle debris and clean out dust from house. (3) Trades rough-in: Remove trades debris and clean out dust and wall cavities for insulators. (4) Drywall debris: Remove drywall debris but leave dust so texture won’t stick to floor. (5) Texture Debris: Remove drywall texture debris and fine dust before trim carpenter starts. (6) Brick & Stone: Remove all misc. trash and brick debris (7) Interior Trim: Remove trim debris and clean out dust for painters. (8) Remove Lot Debris: Remove lot debris before final grader starts “Pulling forms is an extra bid" (9) Painters Paper: Remove painters paper from garage. (10) Trades Trash: Clean out garage of boxes/misc, spot scrape floor and sweep good for carpet installers. (11) Carpet Remnants: Remove carpet remnants and trades final debris. Note* after stage (5) If floor scraping is required I need to know before they texture otherwise it’s an extra labor charge.

Whether or not you can use a pressure washer to clean your gutter guards depends on the type of gutter guard you have and the strength of the pressure washer. Most gutter guards can handle a low-pressure setting but check first. The amount of pressure, measured in psi, that you should use depends on what you’re washing. Very tough materials like concrete, stone, and masonry can handle a high psi of 2,500 to 3,000, but materials like wood require a bit of a lighter touch. To clean your wooden deck, you’ll want to use your pressure washer on the lowest setting, around 600 psi, especially if it’s made of soft wood like pine or cedar.

Before pressure washing, you can spray your deck lightly with a deck cleaning solution made of equal parts oxalic acid and water. Oxalic acid has a brightening effect that will lighten mold stains and return the deck to its original freshly-sawn look. Allow the solution to sit for about 20 minutes before pressure washing so it has time to take effect.

If you don’t thoroughly clean your deck surface before staining, debris, grease, and mildew can get trapped on top of the wood. As well as looking unsightly, the stain won’t effectively penetrate the wood surface. You won’t have such a well-protected deck, and you’ll likely have to restain sooner. Beyond just the appearance and adhesion issues, any existing mold or mildew left untreated can continue to grow beneath the new stain, potentially leading to wood rot and structural damage over time, ultimately shortening the lifespan of your deck and requiring costly repairs.

You’ll need to wait until the surface is completely dry, which can take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours under optimal conditions. The waiting period depends on several factors, including the type of siding and the weather conditions. Trying to paint before the surface is completely dry can trap moisture under the paint, leading to bubbling, blistering, and mold growth.
