If you skip using a primer before painting brick, you risk ending up with a blotchy paint job that won’t last as long. Because of the natural variations in brick, paint can adhere and dry unevenly to different spots. When you use a primer, you put a neutralizing layer between the brick and the paint, evening the texture and color. Technically, yes, there are lawn “paints” that you can use to dye your lawn to a greener color, often made out of nontoxic biodegradable materials. This is a potential band-aid to your problem, but it rarely has perfect results. First, yellowed grass is usually frail and lacks the springiness of healthy grass, so your lawn may still look unhealthy no matter the color. Second, lawn paints only work for the short term, and wash away after a couple of months (depending on your climate).
