"I met with several contractors but I knew right away that Domain was the one. From the very first consultation all the way through to the completion of the project (and beyond), Gerardo and his team have taken care of us. The crew are all professional and so nice, on top of doing excellent work. It's hard to imagine our house before the work was done and that's all thanks to the team and Domain. I will absolutely be using them on our next project!"

"We hired Andy to put together a large wooden swingset and sandbox for our kids. The weather ended up being cold and rainy and he worked through it anyway to the extent possible. The project ended up being larger than expected and Andy knocked labor off of the bill to work with us. Would easily hire them again!"

"I hired Chris to install a deck in my backyard by my pool. I didn't want a run of the mill deck and wanted something that wrapped around the pool area. To be honest I was a bit nervous, but Chris seemed very confident and assured me with his plan and kept me up to date on the progress and issues, etc. In the end, he knocked it out of the park and I love my deck!!! I would definitely use and/or recommend Chris to a friend."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

The easiest way to tell if a wall is load bearing is to check if it’s an exterior wall or if it runs perpendicular to the joists above and below it (or parallel to beams). Exterior walls are almost always load-bearing, and walls that run under beams or parallel to them are also usually load-bearing. There are exceptions to these rules, and walls that don’t fit into these categories can still be load-bearing. If you’re unsure, hire a structural engineer to look at your home to assess whether or not the wall is structural.

Building a barndominium means converting a barn into a house. Barndominiums are becoming popular as spacious and stylish alternatives to typical housing structures. Old barns that become houses traditionally consist of wooden construction. However, newer structures, such as pole barns, often contain metal exteriors and roofs. Converting a metal outbuilding into a house presents an excellent opportunity to create a barndominium from metal.

Yes, you can hang picture frames, shelves, and other items on Trusscore panels. For lightweight items (less than 30 pounds), the company recommends using adhesive strips rather than nails or screws. However, you’ll need to secure heavier objects to a stud in the wall. In these situations, Trusscore recommends cutting away the panel material and fastening the object to the stud with metal hardware.

While framing a basement is not as difficult as finishing a basement, it's something you should typically leave to the pros. That’s because if something is installed correctly, it will affect your entire basement. However, you can take care of some of the smaller tasks, like filling holes or putting up some insulation.

Yes, a 2x6 should hold a porch swing and safely support the load. A smaller joist runs the risk of it not offering enough support for the swing. If you have a joist smaller than 2x6, add additional bolstering support.
