"Tim call just a few hours after I placed my request on the Servicemagic web sight. We talked about what I wanted and he gave me an estimate that was very competitive. I called Tim the next day to set up an appointment and he came that afternoon. We agreed to have the job done on a Tuesday afternoon and he installed the product Thursday afternoon. I appreciated Tim's call to double check on a few details to insure we would be happy with the finished product. This was a very pleasing experience in both service and quality of workmanship. I plan to have Tim back to provide us with an estimate on the kitchen. Thanks for a job well done."

"A young man named Arron came out to bid the job and informed me that this would be his first butcher block counter top installation. He gave me a good bid on the job so my wife and I decided to hire him and give him a little experience in the butcher block installation. We could not be happier that we did. Arron was very professional and did an excellent job on the counter top. I would recommend him on any counter top job someone may have. Thanks Arron."

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

Fortunately, there are many types of heatproof countertops. Granite, quartzite, concrete, and stainless steel are all fiery contenders. These surfaces work best in busy kitchens where hot pots, pans, and baking sheets are part of the daily routine. Plus, their durability means you get a long-lasting work surface that won’t flinch at a bit of heat or heavy use. However, many stone and concrete counters require a sealer, which is typically not heatproof.

Epoxy is the best sealer for concrete countertops. It fills in gaps, rough areas, and imperfections for a smooth finish and will usually last the life of the concrete. Other options include acrylic and polyurethane sealers, which protect the countertops from stains but must be reapplied every few years to maintain proper surface protection.

Yes, installing new quartz countertops can increase your home’s value. Updating your counters with a durable material like quartz that will last decades is a great investment.

No, baking soda does not scratch glass cooktops making it a great option for cleaning them. It is abrasive enough to effectively clean grime and burn marks without leaving unwanted scratches. When using baking soda to clean a glass cooktop, make sure to use a soft rag to scrub it to avoid any other materials that could scratch your glass cooktop.

Yes, laminate (or Formica) countertops often come in precut sizes. It is important to measure your space and then do some research, or take the measurements to a local home improvement store to see if you can get the right size. If you do get precut laminate countertops, you may still have to cut holes for the sink and fixtures.
