F5 CONSTRUCTION HANDLES SEVERAL LOCAL REALITY CO. RENTAL PROPERTIES, WE HAVE 3 TO 4 ROOFING SUB CONTRACTOR CREWS, SIDING CREWS, AND WINDOW. WE HAVE REMOLDING CREWS FOR INTERIOR/EXTERIOR PROJECTS, ETC.

"Our experience with their tech was not pleasant. The tech arrived to diagnose a roof leak but he had no ladder to get on the roof. He borrowed ours. After looking in the attic and on the roof, he told us he didn't think we had a leak and what I heard was likely hail hitting the chimney cap and left. While we had intermittent pea-sized hail during the storm that started the leak, this seemed to be a low probability and highly unlikely. We went to Lowes and bought a moisture meter, not believing him, and verified we had a leak. Husband found the leak exactly where we had directed him to look, so they came back. Then the tech described the work he would do to fix the leak. He said wind was likely pushing in rain into the side seams of the chimney and/or around the base. We were led to believe extensive caulking work would be done to seal cracks around our fireplace base, up the side seams, and seal nail heads for the price agreed upon. The leak persists. We called our fireplace cleaning company and they said the side seams weren't caulked, as we expected, but some caulking had occurred. They were confused as to why not all seams were caulked if it was a rain driven issue. The chimney company is replacing our cap since it was dented in, but they confirmed for us only a portion of what we paid to be caulked was done by F5's tech. We spoke to the owner and he asked what did I want him to do? He claims it's a "he said/she said" and that he would speak to his tech about his communication skills. What his tech told him does not match what we were told on work to be performed. And the amount of glued down shingles went from the tech telling us personally that he did a few shingles as a non-charged add-on to telling his boss he did 100 linear feet and that the work was a part of the original description of work. His story changed when we called to protest that the work we had been told would be done was not done. I personally think Mike and Karen are nice, but their employee has much room for improvement and isn't being honest. And if they're not willing to believe the homeowner then this puts others at risk. They came highly recommended, so, this may be isolated, but be careful. Have their tech detail in writing everything they plan to do. Their vague description should not be accepted. A sketch might help. This will ensure you get what you agree on and there's no he-said, she-said where the customer loses $800 and all faith in the company."

"Ordered and paid for custom awning that was to take 5 weeks. Its now been 16 weeks and still waiting. Owner is at best noncommunicable and at worst, rude. I'm now wondering if this is a scam and not a real business."

"Had my roof done a few years ago which was a mess during the work process but now having to have my entire porch cover removed and replaced due to poorly installed flashing and a large area of no roofing felt so now rotten. How can anyone be comfortable with doing such shotty work? Will NEVER recommend this company for anything. They make a huge mess and don’t clean up well either."

Awnings questions, answered by experts

On average, awning costs range from $1,400 to $4,400. The low end of the cost range can be around $100 up to $7,500 on the high end. Cost factors include the type of awning, size, and location. Portable awnings are the most affordable and DIY-friendly to install, costing $100 to $400. Larger, motorized awnings tend to be more solidly built, ranging in price from $2,000 to $3,500.

Retractable awnings offer numerous advantages for homeowners, including protecting your outdoor furniture against the elements. It can also help keep your deck in better shape since it adds a layer of protection against sun and precipitation.

Regularly clean with mild detergent and water, and inspect for rust or damage.

The average cost to build a pergola ranges from $2,200 to $6,400, whereas the average cost of an awning ranges from $1,400 to $4,400, meaning that an awning tends to be less expensive to build or install than a pergola. Ultimately, the less expensive option depends on a few factors, including size, quality of materials used, and location.

Awnings can be a serious investment for homeowners, particularly if it features a motorized and retractable design. Protect the exterior of your home by choosing a reliable and reputable contractor. Do some research ahead of time to get an idea of the potential contractor’s strengths and weaknesses. Don’t hesitate to give them a call to discuss specifics.
