"From estimate to payment for job well done - all IN ONE DAY. I watched the team work at a neighbor's house and I noticed the way they carried themselves and worked together. They seemed focused and efficient and did a great job - safely. No noted mishaps; and believe me, I watched closely. The men looked, behaved, and spoke professionally and courteously. Equipment was clean and obviously well maintained, further indicating the professional orientation of the team. Mr. Holman was knowledgeable and willing to educate this non-arborist homeowner about the health of my one tree, which I really want to keep. Every one of my concerns were appropriately addressed prior to starting and the job was completed and completely cleaned up within 2 hours. I am thoroughly impressed. They did what they said they would do, when they said they would do it, for the price quoted. That is hard to come by these days. I highly recommend Holman Tree Service!"

"AMAZING experience. I would definitely recommend Sawdust Tree Expert. I had a fairly large tree that needed to be removed, they gave me a very fair quote, and did an amazing job. In no time at all the tree was down and all the branches were gone. Absolutely blown away by their professionalism, their attention to details and their work ethics. Not to mention they were pleasant to speak with....I felt very pleased when they were done."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Cutting down a dead tree is always strongly advisable. Aside from being an eyesore, a dead tree can be extremely hazardous, especially when it’s near people or structures. Even if the tree isn’t near your home, it can still harbor pests and diseases that can potentially spread to nearby plants and homes.

It will take you anywhere from 15 minutes to two hours per tree stump to grind and remove the stump from the ground. The larger the size, the longer it will take to remove the stump. Also, keep in mind that rocky soil may require local excavation services to loosen up large boulders before you can begin to remove the tree stump.

A tree branch should start to form roots in about three months. It can take about a year for a tree branch to develop roots strong enough to go in the ground. For best results, start several branches because, no matter how closely you follow instructions, they won’t all form roots. Compost any that aren’t thriving.

After a big storm, you may not be sure if a tree was struck or not. Look for the telltale long scars, like strips or gouges in the bark of the tree, running in sometimes jagged lines down the length of the trunk. These scars will often show vulnerable living wood inside the tree. It’s also common to see scorched or wilted leaves on the side or top of the tree where lightning struck.

If you don’t stake a tree that needs support, it could be at greater risk of being damaged or failing completely, whether it uproots or falls over. That could cause damage to your property or other surrounding trees. If you want to grow healthy trees, you may need to stake them for best results.
