"Couldn't be happier with the results, but the best part of the experience is all the amazing, hard-working, highly dedicated and profesisonal people who work for this company. If you have a sink stopper, it can feel more challenging to clean the drain without removing it, but here are a few simple steps:

  • Pour ½ cup baking soda into the drain using a funnel

  • Pour 1 ½ cups vinegar into the drain

  • Close the sink stopper for 15–20 minutes

  • Open the drain

  • Pour 2 cups of boiling water down the drain (be cautious as boiling water can damage some types of pipes)

If the drain isn’t unclogged, repeat the process.

A washing machine should drain the water used during its cycle through a drainpipe and out through the house’s plumbing. This is the same plumbing that sinks and shower drains run to, and if the U-bend is installed correctly, it shouldn’t smell. The total drainage from the house is then integrated into the city sewer system or, if you’re in the country, dispersed into a septic tank.

A liquid drain cleaner can sometimes make a clog worse over time if you use it improperly or too much. The chemicals in drain cleaners can corrode and damage pipes, causing cracks and leaks that may cause further blockages. If your drain doesn’t have metal crosshairs or crossbars, you should use a tub drain extractor. These tools create a grip on the drain so you can turn it using a 1/2-inch ratchet drive, drain key, or wrench. Your drain may not have crosshairs if it's old and broken.

If you want to avoid using a snake to unclog a drain, or if you don’t have one, try vinegar and baking soda. Pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by 1 cup of white vinegar. Wait for 15 minutes, and then run hot water (but not boiling water) down the drain to see if the clog is clear. Repeat multiple times as needed.
