"Chris and Cameron did fantastic work installing a wood fence. They worked around rainy weather issues to get the fence done quickly. Chris took care of pulling the needed permits and worked directly with the city building department. Very thankful for the work they did!"

"Rob and his crew are caring professionals who strive to exceed your expectation(s). They painted the interior of my home which included a foyer, stairway, upstairs hall, a large greatroom with cathedral ceilings, and kitchen with a back hall and a dining area. I chose a dark blue for the greatroom which I had concerns of showing up readily on the white trim or hardwood floors. Not one drop did I see when they were done. I appreciated their ability so much that I hired them to do my deck as well. They were timely too! The whole job was completed in two days. Finally, their prices are affordable. I pursued several bids before choosing them."

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Always sand a deck before repainting so the wood is smooth and ready for paint. While you do not need to fully remove paint before repainting, sanding helps remove any areas with weather and sun damage. Sanding also helps remove chipped or flaking paint and opens the wood pores to improve paint adhesion.

The best way to clean your decking is to clear debris from the gaps between the boards, sweep the surface, rinse it, apply cleaner, rinse again, and let it dry fully. A homemade deck cleaner made of two gallons of warm water and 1/2 cup vinegar is a simple cleaning solution for both wood and composite decking. You can sprinkle baking soda on any spots with mold or mildew, then scrub the area and rinse clean.

The most likely causes of a deck leaning to one side are damaged deck posts, soil erosion, and inadequate deck footings. If you’re not sure about the exact cause, the best option is to call a contractor who can build a deck to inspect the damage and recommend the best way forward.

Composite decking boards aren't your only options for building a deck. There are several other types of materials for decks, including wood and aluminum decking. Wood decking comes in many different wood species, offering natural beauty and classy timelessness to your yard. Aluminum is a lightweight, water-resistant, and low-maintenance material that is also non-slip.

If you want to make a deck cleaner from products already in your home, there are various options. The most common is to use a gentle blend of 1 gallon of warm water and 2 tablespoons of ammonia-free dish soap. You can also mix water with distilled vinegar. Sprinkling on some baking soda can help to remove mold and mildew. You can add oxygen bleach (but never damaging chlorine bleach) to the water and ammonia-free dish soap solution for something a bit stronger.
