Customers say: Terrific value

We are Tree Stump Removal specialists! My company and I have been in business for 20+ years. "CONSUMERS BEWARE! DO NOT DO any type of business with Matthew Barger of Barger’s Tree Services / Barger and Son Tree Services. He is very unprofessional, no integrity and the firewood is falsely advertised! The wood we got was not seasoned nor ready to burn. Its green wood and have to use a starter log to heat it up and moisture boiled, steamed and hissed out the ends for along with the excess creosote. Had moisture meter readings of 27% and higher with some maxing out the meter at 50%. After offering to exchange and scheduling a time, even called and said he was 20 mins away, Matt blocked my phone number and social media. As well as deleted the advertisement on Facebook Market Place and create new ones. You can find plenty of online reviews, previous consumer complaints filed with Ohio Attorney General as well as many court records in Clermont County, all proving a history of bad business and dishonest character."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Light-bark trees are most notorious for producing lots of sap when wounded. These varieties include maples, birches, poplars, dogwoods, magnolias, and elms, and they will bleed more when the trees are dormant. That’s why it’s a good idea to prune them in the summer months rather than waiting until winter.

Before you cut down a dead palm tree, try to revive it using the methods listed above. However, there are instances when it makes sense to remove a dead palm tree, including:

  • The heavily infected tree will infect nearby trees, bushes, and plants.

  • The palm’s roots are overtaking your yard, foundation, and sidewalk and causing structural damage.

  • The tree is unstable and a hazard to your property, your neighbor’s property, and pedestrians.

There are a few general rules to follow that will help you prune your trees correctly. One of the most important rules is to prune during the correct season for the type of tree you have. Typically, pruning should be during late winter. For younger trees, you should not remove more than a ⅓ of the tree's crown when pruning. Also, remember to remove dead and diseased branches first, then proceed with pruning the rest of the tree.

Finding a reliable arborist starts with researching specialists in your area and checking their licensing and certifications. Use online resources like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to conduct research on each company. Next, contact the arborist and ask the following questions to see whether they are the right fit for your project:

  • Do you handle or specialize in dealing with the issue I’m having?

  • Are you fully insured?

  • Do you have customer references I can call?

  • Do you have any third-party certifications?

  • What equipment and strategies do you plan to use?

It is possible to burn out a tree stump if it is dried out and in an area of your property with a large buffer. Drill holes in the stump and dig around the base so it burns more easily. Then, build a small campfire on top using kindling and firewood. You’ll need enough to keep the fire going for many hours to completely burn out the stump, especially if it’s large.

Monitor the fire closely to ensure it doesn’t spread, and have a hose on hand if it starts to get out of control. When the fire is out, break apart the burned stump and dig out what’s left of it.

If this sounds like a good option, learn more about how to burn a tree stump before attempting it, as it does come with risks.
