Service oriented private business serving a wide aray of customers on many tasks/projects; personal or private services, construction services, business services, financial services etc

"Horrible craftsmanship. He did not order the materials as draws were paid, then wanted more money to order materials. Installed a boat lift as part of the project, it was not installed to spec and dropped our boat. The seawall steps have washed out from rain. Left trash, building scraps all over the work site."

Mulch and Topsoil questions, answered by experts

Yes, and in many cases, you should. Large gravel works best as a base layer because it improves drainage and keeps the surface stable. A top layer of smaller gravel fills in gaps and creates a smoother, more compacted surface. This combination is common in driveways and high-traffic areas where both stability and comfort matter.

While you don’t need to put anything down before mulch, you can apply a pre-emergent herbicide to prevent weed growth. As long as you remove weeds before you spread mulch, you should be in the clear. But a herbicide is something that you can put down before mulch as an extra layer of protection.

Food-grade diatomaceous earth is a natural product that comes from diatoms—fossilized aquatic organisms from tens of millions of years ago. Food-grade diatomaceous earth is considered "natural," while pool or filter-grade diatomaceous earth has been treated and transformed to have higher crystalline silica content.

When laying gravel, it's often a good idea to apply a base layer, such as sand or crushed concrete. You may also want to layer a weed-blocking membrane on top of the base layer to prevent weeds and grass from sprouting up in your gravel driveway. Without the appropriate base layer, the gravel you lay may sink into the soil.

Depending on the size of the river rock and the density of your soil, add woven landscape fabric or sand under river rock. The extra layer will ensure your river rock sits evenly and doesn't create puddles or uneven areas throughout the design. In some cases, nothing is necessary beneath river rock, but be sure to speak with a landscaper to keep your landscaping looking sharp.
