"Justin from City Glow Lighting was amazing to work with. 5 Stars – Couldn’t Be Happier! We recently had permanent holiday lighting installed on our home, and the entire experience was fantastic from start to finish. Justin was professional, punctual, and incredibly detail-oriented. He walked us through all of our design options and made sure everything was exactly the way we envisioned it. Now that the lights are up, we’re blown away by how great they look—bright, clean, and perfectly installed. It’s amazing how easily we can change the colors and patterns for different holidays, special occasions, or just for fun. Our house looks stunning year-round, and we love the compliments we get from neighbors! If you’re considering permanent lighting, don’t wait—this company delivers top-quality work and exceptional customer service. Highly recommend!"

"Danny called me that day to set up a time to assess the work to be done. He reviewed all the projects and told me he may have to go to the hardware store for some supplies, but would see as the work progressed. Danny replaced bulbs in my chandelier that I couldn't reach, tightened a loose flood light (the housing, not the bulb), completed a complicated light fixture installation in the basement stairwell, and replaced glass covers for light fixtures throughout the house.
Danny worked efficiently and professionally. I was comfortable having him in my home. He worked non-stop for 4 1/2 hours and explained what he was doing as he worked. It is my pleasure to recommend him to you.

Lighting questions, answered by experts

Pool lights are designed to be safe by protecting swimmers from electrocution. These lights are made with waterproof fixtures and seals to prevent contact with the water.

Electrocution from pool lights is still possible, but rare. Faulty wiring or broken lighting equipment can make lights unsafe, so it’s important to replace lights as needed and have an electrician inspect and upgrade the wiring.

Installations include new light fixtures, upgraded panels, fixed outlets, and tracked wiring continuity.

While most general electricians can repair lamps and light fixtures, it is often better to hire a lamp repair specialist. Many electricians prefer larger jobs, such as fixing electrical systems or relocating fixtures, and may not offer lamp repair services due to the small scale of the work. Additionally, some lamps, particularly antique models, require dedicated expertise that a general electrician might not have. A lamp repair specialist will be familiar with various types of fixtures and can provide a more dedicated service. If you have already hired an electrician for a larger project, you can ask them to look at your lamp, but for a standalone repair, a specialist is typically the best option.

DIY is possible for minor issues like bulb replacement. Professional services ensure proper wiring and functionality.

Modern outdoor light fixtures are waterproof and weather resistant, and, provided they’re installed correctly and by a professional, the fixture and wiring can last for 20 to 30 years or more. The lifespan will depend largely on the quality of the fixture. The lifespan of the bulb will depend on the type of light you install:

  • CFL bulb (for sustained use): 15,000 hours

  • Halogen bulb (mostly for security): 2,000 hours

  • HID bulbs (for security): 12,000 hours

  • Incandescent bulb: 1,000 hours

  • LED bulb: 50,000 hours
